Competing for cash in an MMORPG?
Nope, we're not talking about two gold farmers dickering over a roll. The Guild Wars World Championship began this week in Taipei. Six teams representing three regions are competing for fame, glory, and the $100,000 grand prize. In this editorial, we take a look at the GWWC. Read about it at our Guild Wars @ TenTonHammer community site. Good luck to all the folks participating. Travel safe, play fair, and take lots of pictures for those of us back home!
Its a pretty crazy concept, when you think about it. Playing a video game and ending up in a foreign country, competing for cash. Sure, its happened with first-person-shooter games, but a game billed as an RPG? Not so common. Guild Wars is a unique mix of story-telling and competitive PvP action, and its success rests firmly on both pillars.
