Neverwinter Producer Discusses New Game Direction and User-Created Content

<p><em>Neverwinter</em> Lead Producer Andy Velasquez chats about the change to a full MMORPG, user-generated content and staying true to <em>Dungeons &amp; Dragons</em> roots.

Earlier this year, Cryptic Studios announced that their upcoming Neverwinter title originally announced as a cooperative online RPG would instead make the jump to a full free-to-play MMORPG. This week MMORPG.com caught up to Neverwinter Lead Producer Andy Velasquez to find out what that change will mean for the game.

Perfect World wanted to go big. Expand everything. Do more. Do better.

One other huge element to the Neverwinter game franchise has always been the player’s ability to create new content and Velasquez explains that this will be possible through the game’s Foundry system. And if you’re concerned about the game staying true to its Dungeons & Dragons pen & paper roots, Velasquez assures fans that many of the team have been playing the pen & paper games for years, some even come from the pen & paper industry and are very passionate about staying true to those roots.

Neverwinter is expected to launch in 2012.
