PlayerScore: Smacking you in the face like a Mack truck since 2010

--------||--------

The New Player Tips discussion for this week over at the official World of
Warcraft
blog is one that’s very near and dear to our WoW writers and
PlayerScore crew: Add-ons. If we haven’t made it more obvious than a Mack truck
smacking you in the face by this point, I’ll spell it out for you: we don’t just
love add-ons, we consider them to be one of the best examples of player-created
content ever invented.

For those of you who haven’t smoked so many bowls that your long-term memory
only stretches back a good five minutes or so, think back to vanilla WoW and
that state of the default UI at that point. Or, for a loose approximation log in
and disable all of your current add-ons and bask in the not-so-warm glow of the
UI most of us haven’t dared look upon in over six years.

As the official blog points out:

While we go to great lengths to ensure that the default World of Warcraft UI
offers everything necessary to play the game, some players find add-ons
extremely useful. Many players enable at least a few add-ons, while others use
dozens more!

Translation: If it weren’t for add-ons, the default UI wouldn’t have things like
spell-alert, the current raid frames, a basic threat meter, or even ilvl
listings for gear. While we all know that average ilvl doesn’t even come close
to the end-user data taken into account by PlayerScore, we’re still flattered
that Blizzard acknowledges how much of a game-changer GearScore has become for
the vast majority of players.

Raise your hand if you use PlayerScore!

To continue the theme of add-on related New Player Tips, here are a couple of
them for you to consider:

If you're reading this, then you know that PlayerScore is far more than just another in-game add-on. But did you know that you can create custom watch lists of specific characters to track their info here on the site? This can be insanely useful for anyone currently using the loot council method of loot distribution for guild runs since you can see exactly who in your guild can use upgrades the most before ever stepping foot into a zone. While the add-on can provide the same info in-game, it never hurts to be prepared before hand.

Is PlayerScore one of the must-install add-ons in your current arsenal? Let people know in the discussion on the official blog. The more of you there are using the add-on and website, the better support we can provide for new features, so I consider that a win-win.
