Nintendo 4K Console: Are Developers Making Games For a Non-existent Console?

Bloomberg noted that 11 game developers had access to Nintendo's 4K development kit for creating 4K Switch Games in the recent past. Among the companies mentioned include Zynga, a mobile game developer known for its social media-based titles such as Words with Friends and Farmville. The report also stated that the upcoming OLED Model launching on Friday, October 8, won't feature the 4K specifications until late next year. Gamblers who think they could start using free spins no deposit casino Australia to access some of the Nintendo Switch 4K games have been disappointed since then. Nintendo came out and stated that Bloomberg's report is not accurate, and there are no plans to add more Nintendo Switch models at the moment.

According to reports, Nintendo had already handed out 4K kits to other companies before unveiling the new console in July. The company asked the gaming developers to design software that could support the 4K resolution. A development kit can test unfinished games and it is a standard instrument for testing incomplete games in the development stages. Nintendo's kit has an extra memory that anchors debugging software plus additional ports for connecting to computers and other gadgets you may have at home. Contrary to the previous Switch kit transmitted using 1080, the new one can do the job at 4K resolution. It will also have double USB 3.0 ports and one Ethernet port. Here is the company's brief history of making you understand more about Nintendo.

Nintendo’s History

Nintendo is a Japanese electronics and video games firm founded by Nintendo Karuta in 1889, hence Nintendo’s name. It's headquartered in Kyoto, Japan and initially, it used to produce handmade handful play cards. It then acquired legal status as a public company in the 1960s and later distributed its first video game console known as the Color TV-Game in 1977. Nintendo gained global recognition in 1985 after releasing its Donkey Kong and the Super Mario Bros in 1985. Since then, Nintendo has been developing great consoles such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Switch, Game Boy, Nintendo DS and many more. It has also collaborated with HAL Laboratory and The Pokemon Company to receive awards such as:

  • Emmy Awards for Technology and Engineering;

  • Game Awards;

  • Gaming Developers Choice Awards;

  • British Academy Games Awards.

Nintendo is one of the wealthiest gaming companies in Japan today.

The Confusion

Many gamers were shocked after noting that Nintendo's new video game doesn't feature high-quality 4K graphics, contrary to other gaming providers. The news confused the gamers and many gaming companies that aimed to create 4K games using Nintendo's software kit. According to the company's employees, who failed to identify themselves, they possessed the toolkit to make the Switch. They also noted that they weren't authorized to announce their respective companies' development strategies, hence failing to mention their names. In addition, Zynga spokeswoman Sarah Ross refuted the claims.' To clarify, Zynga does not have a 4K developer kit from Nintendo,' she said in another report.

Bloomberg has continued to insist that Switch Pro exists despite Nintendo's denial. The Bloomberg report could frustrate Nintendo the same way when players complained about the Switch OLED specifications that Nintendo never set.

The Bloomberg Report Could be Accurate

It is not the first time Nintendo to deny such claims. The company did so in 2006 when its employees refuted reports that it had a new DS model. After a short while, Nintendo revealed the existence of DS Lite. Another thing that makes the Bloomberg report sound true is that Nintendo has a good reason to lie. The firm plans to drop the Switch OLED soon, meaning any news hinting at a Switch Pro development would lead to falling Switch OLED sales. In addition, it's hard to trust Zynga's denial because it might be trying to avoid being labelled as the one that spilt the beans to maintain a healthy relationship with the company. However, if Nintendo and Zynga stick with their statement, gamers will have to settle with the Switch OLED that will be available as of October 8 2021.

Nintendo Plans on a Switch OLED Upgrade Following Switch Pro Rumors

Nintendo recently announced a new Switch console model following rumour speculations about the Switch Pro upgrade. According to the company, the Switch OLED Model is expected to be the most significant upgrade of the previous versions. For example, it will include a bigger 7-inch OLED screen to make the colours more vibrant. In addition, its resolution will be 1280x720, but the battery life will remain the same. Further, there will be no changes in the model's Joy-cons and size.

Besides the screen improvement, players should expect a better speaker and improved storage of 64GB, contrary to the previous 32GB. The dock is probably the most significant change in this model. It is easier to open and has a wired LAN port to prevent you from buying unfitting adapters. However, the Switch OLED doesn't support 4K or HDR, which rumours had speculated. But it doesn't mean that Nintendo isn't looking into incorporating the specifications in the future.

Possibilities Nintendo Might Not Release a 4K Switch

Over the years, the Kyoto Japan company has stored several products for strategic planning or technical problems. For instance, the company unveiled a sleep monitor known as the Quality of Life in 2014, but it never sold it. As a result, developers who may have the 4K console will be forced to adjust their projects to accommodate lower-quality hardware.

What Could Happen If They Don't Release the Games?

If Nintendo does not incorporate the 4K feature in its following product in the coming month, it might encounter technical disadvantages. Companies like Sony and Microsoft Corp. have been developing 4K games for years and even released more powerful hardware last year. As a result, their products have continued to incur more demand in the gaming industry. On the other hand, Nintendo Switch was developed in 2017 and has had a good run since then. The company has been receiving pre-order requests from customers across the U.S and Japan, which means that if they develop 4K games, it could be another successful run. However, there is no doubt that Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 will be growing even stronger as more games with increased power are expected to come out in the future.
