Tekken 7 Season 4 new character - Kunimitsu

Recently, a new star has risen in the firmament of the Tekken universe. It is Kunimitsu Jr., the daughter of Kunimitsu, already shining with her beauty and agility. We're going to talk about Kunimitsu Jr.

Biography

First of all, let's talk about the biography of Kunimitsu. This is her mother's daughter. Kunimitsu Sr. taught her practically the art of the ninja. She is very nimble, fast, and unobtrusive. For even more secrecy, Kunimitsu wears a mask. This mask has the shape of a fox, which holds a special place in Japanese mythology and is a reference from the developers to their native epic.

The goal of Kunimitsu Jr., like Kunimitsu Sr., is to take possession of the Yoshimitsu sword.

She is a thief. But at the same time, she is quite honest and frank. Kunimitsu never gets tired of talking about her profession after each victory, incessantly offering her services to the defeated, but a living opponent.

Kunimitsu has been featured in the first two Tekken games and has appeared in a number of spin-offs. This is a reserved and mysterious character, that much so that only in Tekken 2 did it become clear that it was a woman hiding under the mask.

Combat style

Kunimitsu received combos capable of pushing opponents from the center of many small arenas - to the end of the stage, to the edge of the "balcony". Here it should be mentioned that in her "home arena" Vermilion Gates, added along with Kunimitsu herself, there is a "balcony break". In addition, it can be used very effectively by pinching opponents in the corner.

The essence of Kunimitsu combat is fast, very fast melee combos. She resembles Master Raven a bit, in particular - completing one of her most popular combos - jumping from a height (flying forward) onto the opponent's head.

Stunning look

Kunimitsu is a stunningly stylish character. Her default skin looks amazing. Strikes, techniques, and even simply evasion look juicy and spectacular. It often happens that in a fight, you want to look not at the opponent, but at Kunimitsu herself, at the effectively and elegantly rotating ponytail of her hair.

Strengths

Kunimitsu’s bread & butter is all about close range punches at the torso and above. In Kunimitsu’s assets there are a lot, really a huge number of combos designed specifically for this. She also has a powerful combination, starting with a counter hit, with which Kunimitsu can stop especially aggressive and reckless opponents.

To win for Kunimitsu, it will be enough:

•  to use simple "optimal" combos;

•  to combine them with aggressive close combat;

•  not to try to fight at a long distance because it can lead you to defeat.

Your ideal opponents are those without powerful long-range strikes. Kunimitsu's combos are very fast, so blocking them is not easy. You may need to practice a bit before reaching ranked matches or tournaments, but it will be worth it.

Good Kunimitsu combos were shown by one of the best players in the world, multiple EVO champion Arslan Ash.

Weaknesses

She is rather poor at resisting ranged attacks. Even such, frankly, not the strongest characters like Panda and Kuma are able to restrain her and win in a fight at a long distance. The ideal opposite of Kunimitsu is perhaps Akuma, as a great combination of ranged and melee attacks.

A lot of Kunimitsu's attacks are neutralized with a simple sidestep.

Of course, Kunimitsu also has a ranged attack, but she only penetrates the block at -11. This, however, makes it an excellent end of some difficult fight. Imagine when an opponent who has lost almost all of their hp finally gets hitting space, happily preparing to launch some super-powerful combo, and gets spit from Kunimitsu, finishing him off.

If Kunimitsu in Tekken 1, 2 (definitely) and in Tekken Tag Tournament (probably) was a rather weak clone of Yoshimitsu, then in Tekken 7 this character has become much, much stronger. If in the previous parts she only had a couple of powerful special combos which could be easily blocked making Kunimitsu absolutely helpless and useless, then now, first of all, she has incomparably more techniques, and secondly, in each position (squatting, standing, etc.) the choice of possible options has become much greater. Now the opponent will have to really guess your choice and it's difficult.

In general, the universe and the Tekken community have welcomed the return of Kunimitsu. She can be considered an “old school” Tekken original fighter, not just a guest or crossover character, which is appreciated by the faithful fans of the game universe. This nimble girl added a little spontaneity and fun, along with a masquerade mood to the fighting game.

She is strong, but not imba. She has obvious advantages and slightly less obvious disadvantages. She has an outstanding look. All in all, she is simply a well balanced character with an unusual story in which cultural and folklore elements are integrated so sophisticatedly that she can meet the demands (and also aesthetic ones) of people from all over the globe. Kunimitsu is currently expected to make an impact in the game, to become a main for a lot of players. Well, time will show.

Also, a new character and new stage are going to be added to Tekken in spring. Share your thoughts about what it could be like. And if you guess correctly, you will have proof of your ability to foresee the future!
