With the World versus World stress test for Guild Wars 2's new borderland map going live later today, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss World versus World in today's column. In the past I've had my say on ArenaNet's open world game mode and although I was particularly grumpy at the time, I still believe WvW has a huge amount of potential and it does offer a great deal of fun. The original 8 flaws I pointed out still apply, but I'm hoping that the new Borderland rectifies most of them. It certainly sounds as though it will. Having said that, if I could change anything about World versus World it would simply be to reward the winning server with something. Part of the reason why realm pride was so prevelant in Dark Age of Camelot was because of the fact that there was an incentive to succeed: Relics. I'm not suggesting each winning server should neccesarily receive a Relic that provides a server wide buff (though that would be nice) but was instead thinking of the winning server receiving an exclusive NPC that sells items that can be purchased with Badges of Honor (or a newly named currency). The purchase rewards would be expensive but players would be able to obtain unique skins: armor, weapons and back pieces. As to how ArenaNet would deal with existing Badges of Honor and the fact players have thousands of them, I'd simply change the currency and have X amount of Badges of Honor convert to Y amount of the new version. I think that'd be a fair solution.

Now I've had my say, what would you change in World versus World? Are there too many things or do you like the game mode as it is? Let me know.
