Are you looking for the latest industry headlines? Look no further.
I made a small change to the layout of the column today that makes the layout more consistent. I also added our writers' names to the articles in the listing. I know that some of you have favourites and digging through a description hoping to see who wrote the piece wasn't cutting it.
Jeff, Phil, Cody and Garrett are headed to Comic Con in the next few days. Before the show even starts it appears that it will be a blockbuster event. The number of games and number of stars available to interview about games is staggering. Right after Comic Con is BlizzCON. I'll be there with Jeff and Phil. If you are attending please let us know and we'll do our best to get all of the TTH readers together in one place. We may need a big place!
If you haven't checked out the BlizzCON "I am Murloc!" video yet, then do yourself a favour and spend the 4 minutes.
Players comprehend that World of Warcraft has 8+ million subscribers, do they really understand how that affects the industry? I'm not convinced that they do. Here is an example of the "WoW Effect" that may put it in perspective.
We sent four people to E3 and we're sending four to Comic Con. We will spend days interviewing dozens of people to get you the most up to date and accurate MMOG information. We will send four people to BlizzCON, maybe get a couple of interviews, take a lot of pictures and videos and guess which event will create the most traffic at TenTonHammer.com? If you guess anything except BlizzCON you were wrong by a factor of 10.
Richard Bartle recently wrote that if WoW were closed down it would benefit the industry as a whole. It's hard to argue that he isn't right. We often deliberate on whether we should have just put all of our writers into the World of Warcraft site on launch day here at TTH.
A copper for your thoughts? Has WoW been a boon or a bane to the industry?
