Honestly, we would eventually like to have playable High Elves, but we're concentrating on this part of the game right now and really can't make promises about future releases. This has been a topic in discussion for a long time.

We believe, given no racial restrictions, that there will be more of the race of Man than the other races. Elves will probably be second in numbers, followed by Dwarves and Hobbits.

Currently, we'd accept that. We're approaching the problem from the other direction: making sure that the other races will be as interesting to play as the Elves.

Player character elves will be Wood Elves, and young ones at that. The High Elves will be off limits in the initial release. We've done some thinking, and we have a pretty good idea on how to limit High Elves if we make them a player race (but it's not something we want to do right off the bat with the Wood Elves). We currently do not have half-elves on the list of potential expansion races. There are so few of them it was even harder to justify then regular elves or even hobbits.

Personally, I wouldn't want to add half-elves as a player race. But that's just me. (Thread)
