Are you constantly scouring the Lord of the Rings Online forums and
related fansites? Chomping at the bit to know all there is to know
about the MMORPG inspired by Tolkien's masterful works? Do you find
yourself posting long, insightful threads on the LOTRO forums, or
simply just thinking about the game constantly? Then join the LOTRO @
TenTonHammer.com writing staff!



General Requirements



What you need first and foremost is a love of online games,
specifically LOTRO. You’ll also need solid basic writing skills. The
ability to take ideas and transform them into smooth-flowing,
well-organized copy is a definite plus. So is a good sense of humor.
You don’t have to be a published writer--we’ll make you one!



Current Writing Needs



Feature/Editorial Writers.
Feature writers provide articles on a variety of topics, and just about
anything related to LOTRO is fair game. You may also find yourself
conducting interviews with community members and, if you have the
skills, perhaps even Turbine devs. Your job is to generate Original
Content (OC) for LOTRO @ Ten Ton Hammer, as well as the LOTRO community
as a whole. You’ll need to be able to organize your ideas into
thought-provoking articles. When writing editorials, you will need to
be able to present your opinions clearly, and to support them with
facts when necessary.



Beat News Reporters. Beat reporters will check for news on the
official LOTRO site and forums as well as other fansites, gaming sites,
and print publications. It helps to be an avid news hound. You will
need to be able to compose a few paragraphs introducing the news topic
and providing a link to the full story or informational tidbit, but in
general beat news reporters will not write full-scale articles.



Class Specialists. LOTRO @ Ten Ton Hammer will serve as a
comprehensive resource for class information. To this end, we’ll need
specialists to report on the LOTRO classes. Your responsibilities will
include writing a detailed description of your chosen class,
maintaining a list of its spells and/or abilities, and writing (or
recruiting someone to write) a basic newbie guide. Class specialists
should be willing to make a long-term commitment to keeping the LOTRO
community up-to-date on a certain class.
