Welcome to From Beyond the Grave! This quest is one of the more popular
new quests from House Jorasco. The main reason it's popular is it's fairly quick and offers two high level chests at the end. However don't let it's relative simple lay out fool you many a party has been wiped by going about this quest without a good solid plan behind them. This is not the quest to launch Operation: Winging It.

Curiously the first problem many people have with this quest is the
quest giver herself Micah D'Jorasco. She is directly above the mail box in House Jorasco, in order to reach her you should walk towards the entrance of Del era's Graveyard and take a right, you'll see a spiral walk way that will lead you to Micah
after a quick hop.

When preparing for this quest casters should stock crowd control and lots of it. Solid Fog, Web, and Halt Undead are all very useful in this quest. Fire Wall is also a definite plus as it really chews up the swarm of undead. href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=231">Tanks
need to concentrate on damage pure and simple. There's a mix between zombies and skeletons so it's hard to choose blunt or slashing but any weapon that can just lay massive amounts of pain down in a hurry should be your first pick regardless. Healers will want to bring Resist Electricity as the Skeletal Storm-Hunter does shock damage with it's arrows.

is
located inside the Del era's Graveyard area. Upon entering lay down
some solid fog as the first wave of Gate Swarmers will appear almost
instantly.  href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album52&id=From_Beyond_the_Grave_gate&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php"> alt="From Beyond the Grave Gate"

At least
size="-1"> one caster and one
defender will want to stay behind and protect the gate. This is VERY
size="-1"> size="-1"> important as the quest
is over if the gate you entered from takes enough damage.  You'll
actually be able to see how badly hurt the gate is though as the quest progresses.

Depending on your party make up and preferences 2-4 party
members run east up a hill to the first of 4 pyres. One person will double click
the pyre while the others defend him. Be careful as one hit to the pyre
lighter will interrupt the process and he'll have to start over. It
does take quite a few seconds for the pyres to light. The first pyre is
actually one of the tricky ones as it's possible to aggro a horde of
Gate Swarmers and pull them to the pyre thus increasing the threat of lighting it. Gate Swarmers aren't terrible threats but their sheer numbers make up for their lack
of individual threat.

After getting the first pyre you'll move down the hill and to
the left to the second one. Somewhere between the first and second pyres you
have a chance of encountering Alexi Dranco. He's not a big problem
though he is one of the ghostly skeletons seen in the Delera's Tomb
series.  The second pyre goes exactly at the first. But with less
chance of Gate Swarmers. After getting the second pyre you'll continue
along the path to the third pyre. At the third pyre there is a chance
you'll encounter Guard Jocori. He's a named href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=36">spectre
and is a bit more
challenging than Alexi was. Namely he seems to hate pyre lighters and
will go out of his way to interrupt them.  However a little ghost
touch and he folds quickly enough.   Light the pyre and move on to
the fourth.

The fourth pyre has a few problems. First and foremost it's the only
one where you are guaranteed to encounter the Skeletal Storm-Hunters.
Two of them wait for you along with the Troopers. Being skeleton
archers these guys love to jump backwards which can lead to you chasing
after them and making your day more frustrating. Also as soon as the
pyre itself is lit Deathshade is going to spawn and make a direct line
for your gate defenders. Fortunately the pyre is close enough to the
gate that a caster could easily run up a fourth of the distance and lay
down a Firewall to increase the odds in favor of the pyre runners. Who
ever is lighting the last pyre should tell his party when it is almost
lit so they can prepare to charge the gate and hit Deathshade with a
flank attack.

Fighting Deathshade is similar to fighting most of the named
wraiths in DDO. He'll teleport in and out a lot and do hit and run attacks on
party members. He can also damage stats, cast Exhaustion, Slow, curse,
and other annoying de-buffs as well.  Fire Wall goes a long way to
killing him as do ghost touch weapons. The biggest problem with
Deathshade is while focusing on him it's easy to forget about the
hordes of Gate Swarmers that are still attacking the gate itself and
thus cause your party to lose that way.  href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album52&id=From_Beyond_the_Grave_chests&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php"> alt="Beyond The Grave Chests"
src="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/files/gallery/albums/album52/From_Beyond_the_Grave_chests.jpg"
style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 141px;" align="left">
However if you generally keep your wits about you and focus on what you're doing the last fight isn't that hard.
style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;"> Solid Fog gives you time to think and
Halt Undead or even Command Undead will style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;">take care of Deathshade's
minions until you can focus on them properly.   size="-1"> size="-1">Once Deathshade is down
the quest is over and you've won!

Be careful getting the two chests up the hill directly in front
of the gate however. Three Troopers will emerge from the ground near by and
there is a chance Lonni Renoldi will pop up as well.  Neither are
severe threats but could catch a weary party off guard.   A
note about the pyre areas. Take a look at the picture and you'll see
a boxed in dirt area around the pyres, at all costs you should make a
point not to step inside the boxes as that will spawn 2 of the Skeletal
Storm-Hunters who will almost always target the person lighting the
pyre.

The Storm-Hunters do significant damage like most skeleton
archers.  However a cleric hitting them with Heal will greatly
reduce their life expectancy.  Also around each of the pyres two
Skeletal Shock-Troopers and a Fallow Ghoul will be standing
guard.  The Troopers are annoying but the Fallow Ghouls are flat out deadly.  You want to focus on them quick and hard.  They can honestly bring a high AC tank with lots of HP down with very little effort if you
don't pay attention to them. Worse they will on occasion spawn near the
gate and trouble your poor caster guarding it.

A note on gate protecting.  href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=221">
Crowd control magic is your best bet
here by far.  href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album52&id=From_Beyond_the_Grave_box&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php"> alt="Beyond The Grave Pyre"
src="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/files/gallery/albums/album52/From_Beyond_the_Grave_box.jpg"
style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 185px;" align="right">
Gate Swarmers are your basic zombies with more
numbers than brains but you need to take into account lots and lots of
them come at you at once.  A good solid damage dealer should stay
behind with the caster and protect him while finishing off the zombies
he slows down or incapacitates.  If the cleric is nearby Blade
Barrier does good work against the slow moving Gate Swarmers as well.
Honestly the healer should always be keeping an eye on the
defenders life as a severely high priority and be ready to run between
the two groups if need be to bail them out of tight jams.

If the defenders go down then the gate isn't going to last long at all.
Firewall is your friend at the gate as the zombies move slow and have
trouble getting out of it's threat range.  Also on each side of
the gate is a shrine, one rest and one resurrection.  It is
possible to get a quick rest in while the zombies focus on the gate or
your buddies.

Finally after receiving your reward from Micah be sure and take the
quest again as you'll probably be back and she does sometimes give out
some very nice quest rewards.
