A rating of 1 or 2 means the Feat is pretty much
useless to a ranger and one that you probably want to avoid. A rating
of 3 indicates that the Feat can be used with some careful planning or with certain class combinations. We reserve a rating of 4 only
for those Feats that are almost necessary picks for certain types of builds or class combinations. A rating of 5 designates the best of the ranger Feats and ones
players should seriously consider in any
href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?meid=5#Builds">DDO build
involving rangers.
To help you navigate the many Feats, just click on
the range of Feats below to move to that spot in the guide:
21. Improved Feint
Official Text: “An attack which also Bluffs the enemies, enabling sneak attacks for a short period of time.”
Prerequisite: Combat Expertise, Sneak Attack
Comments: Unless you have a good amount of Rogue levels, this one’s pretty useless. There are better ways to generate sneak attack opportunities when you are with a party. This is for the Ranger/Rogues only, and it’s not even very useful for them.

Official Text: “Increases your maximum spell points by 10 at first level, and 5 spell points for each additional level.”
Prerequisite: Mental Toughness, Able to cast 3rd-level spells
Comments: You’d have to wait until level 12 just to take this, and there are much better choices out there.
Rating: 1
23. Improved Precise Shot
Official Text: “Your missile attacks may pass through friends and foes to strike your target. Foes between you and your target might be hit.”
Prerequisite: Dexterity 19, Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Base Attack Bonus +11, Received by Ranger 11
Comments: Don’t bother with this unless you are never planning to take 11 levels of Ranger. It’s an awesome Feat, but why spend a slot on it when you can get it for free with creative build planning.
Rating: 2
style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);">24. Improved Shield Bash
Official Text: "You keep your shield bonus while bashing with a shield."
Prerequisite: Shield Proficiency
Comments: Rangers aren’t likely to do a lot of Shield Blocking.
Rating: 2
25. Improved Shield Mastery
Official Text: "Increases the amount of damage you can absorb when defending with a shield."
Prerequisite: Shield Proficiency, Shield Mastery
Comments: Two Weapon Blocking might be a better idea. It depends whether you plan on being a Sword and Shield fighter, or a Two Weapon Fighter.
Rating: 3
style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);">26. Improved Sunder
Official Text: "Using this attack, you may reduce the target's Armor Class for a longer time. Some creatures may be immune to the Sunder effect."
Prerequisite: Strength 13, Base Attack Bonus +1, Power Attack, Sunder
Comments: It just takes too many feats to get here to really be viable for a Ranger.
Rating: 2
27. Improved Trip
Official Text: "Using this attack, you may trip the target, rendering it prone for a longer time. Some creatures may be immune to this effect."
Prerequisite: Intelligence 13, Combat Expertise
Comments: Although it takes a lot of Feats to get here, it’s more useful than Improved Sunder. Some Rangers might be interested in going this route just because Trip is such a great ability.
Rating: 3
style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);">28. Improved Two Handed Fighting
Official Text: "Increases the damage of glancing blow attacks when wielding a two-handed weapon."
Prerequisite: Strength 17, Base Attack Bonus +6, Two Handed Fighting
Comments: This Much like Greater Two Handed Fighting, leave it to the big boys.
Rating: 1
29. Improved Two Weapon Fighting
Official Text: "Increases the number of attacks when fighting with two weapons."
Prerequisite: Dexterity 17, Base Attack Bonus +6, Two Weapon Fighting, Received by Ranger 6
Comments: You are going to get this one for free if you take 6 levels of Ranger. For Fighter Multiclass builds who will not have that many Ranger levels and wish to focus on Two Weapon Fighting this could be a good choice as a Feat, but leave it out if you ever plan on having 6 Ranger levels. Think to the future, the cap could go up sooner than we think!
Rating: 4
style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);"> style="font-weight: bold;">30. Iron Will
Official Text: "Grants you a +2 bonus on your Will saves."
Comments: With limited feats, spending them to increase saves may not be the best bet, but if you have neglected your wisdom score, this would be the one to go for as it is the Rangers weakest save.
