Bloodline Champions remains one of my favorite games and I would argue was way ahead of the curve when it comes to team-based brawlers. Top-down and with a limited action bar, alongside a variety of unique Heroes, it was fast paced but highly skilled. In fact, far more so than any MOBA I've ever played because you actually have to aim. Unlike in say, Heroes of the Storm, where your basic attacks automatically track a target, there's no such thing in Bloodline Champions. In fact, it completely removes any automation or combat anomalies (such as critical hits). It's a wonderful game with an exceptional array of Heroes and skills. In months past Stunlock Studios, the team behind Bloodline Champions, parted company with Funcom. As they've set out on their own, they've made Battlerite.

Although I don't yet know the full circumstance surrounding this spiritual successor, it's clear that somewhere along the line - in this separation - Stunlock Studios had to do things over, with an entirely new game. Not wanting to leave such a brilliant product behind (but likely due to Funcom having some claim over Bloodline Champions and its IP) they've instead replicated what was, under a new name and a new game engine. The artstyle of Battlerite is very reminiscent, Heroes instantly familiar between both games, but Stunlock Studios are now an entirely independent company: that's a very good thing.

In a few days we'll have some keys to give away for Battlerite and the first Beta weekend kick-starts this coming weekend. I'd sincerely recommend you check-out the game and support the studio. If you like competitive games and prefer the team fights in a MOBA to the laning phase, you really need to look any further. For full details of the upcoming Beta, take a look below alongside the first gameplay trailer. We're looking forward to keeping an eye on this one.

Hey everyone! In case you missed it, there is a Closed Beta session this weekend.

The servers will open this Friday, September 2nd at 22:00 CEST (1:00 PM PDT / 4:00 PM EDT), and close again on Sunday, September 4th at 22:00 CEST (1:00 PM PDT / 4:00 EDT). The session will last 48 hours total.

We'll have servers available in:

  • US-East
  • US-West
  • Europe (West, North and Central)
  • South East Asia (Singapore)

With a possibility for additional servers in South America (Lima)

Be sure to check your email to see if you have received a key. Remember to check Spam Folders / Promotions as well!

If it turns out that you have not gotten a key, there is still a chance you will receive one in a later wave of invites for future beta tests.

For the beta there will be no VR-support available; VR-enthusiasts will have to wait a little while longer for that.

And lastly, as a reminder, you are not allowed to stream or share footage during the Beta. You are however allowed to discuss the game openly. As soon as we transition into Early Access you will be free to release any footage you've recorded from the start of Beta onward (alpha footage should not be shared).
