This hasn't been a great year for the Copenhagen Wolves. Their 4-14 record landed them in last place, immediately booting them out of the EU LCS. Then there were some of their players talking about how poorly the League of Legends team was being run, with even long-time captain and face of the team, Joey "Youngbuck" Steltenpool, leaving for greener pastures. Of course, there was the issue with Dentist and Deficio that ended with punishments on both sides. After all that...they're still not done.

A ruling made by Riot Games today states that CW's owner, Jakob Lund Kristensen, failed to ensure that players had valid and countersigned contracts prior to playing in the LCS. That would be bad enough, except that it gets worse; the Wolves were penalized for the same offense back in October of last year. Due this being their second infraction, the penalty has gone up, this time amounting to $3,000 USD.

After all that's gone on, it's going to be difficult for the Copenhagen Wolves to recover. Any sports (or eSports) organization absolutely requires the faith of both fans and sponsors to be successful, and it's hard to see how that will be the case after all that's occurred. Here's hoping the Wolves can truly turn things around.
