EA CEO John Riccitiello Steps Down

Electronic Arts boss John Riccitiello tenders his resignation following what may be a rough quarter for the publisher.

It looks like EA is in for a change of leadership. CEO John Riccitiello has tendered his resignation from the position effective and the board as of March 30th. In his letter, Riccitiello praised EA and what it had accomplished. By stepping down at the end of the fiscal year, Riccitiello offers new management a chance to start fresh.

"We thank John for his contributions to EA since he was appointed CEO in 2007, especially the passion, dedication and energy he brought to the Company every single day," said Executive Chairman Larry Probst. "John has worked hard to lead the Company through challenging transitions in our industry, and was instrumental in driving our very significant growth in digital revenues. We appreciate John's leadership and the many important strategic initiatives he has driven for the Company. We have mutually agreed that this is the right time for a leadership transition."

No replacement has been named for Riccitiello as of yet, so stay tuned and we’ll update you when we have more.
