When Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek joined the Unicorns of Love, it was a big move for their team. Adding a new jungler right before their first stint in the LCS was a risky move, but one that greatly paid off. He introduced the world to some off-meta picks, but more importantly, helped the Unicorns achieve more than they thought possible with a second place finish in the 2015 Spring Split of the EU LCS. With his recent departure from the team, UoL has turned to an old friend to fill the void.

At least for this week, Berk “Gilius” Demir, the man that Kikis replaced, will be in the jungle for the Unicorns of Love. Until a couple weeks ago, Gilius had been the jungler for Challenger squad Gamers2. Team coach Fabian "Sheepy" Mallant had this to say about the decision:

This week we will be facing SK Gaming and Gambit Gaming with our old friend Berk “Gilius” Demir in the jungle. On top of being strong player with good mechanics, Gilius knows our team very well and we trust him to give his best on the rift.

Meanwhile, we are pleased to announce Cho "H0R0" Jae-hwan and Karim "Airwaks" Benghalia as substitutes for the Jungler position. We're working on the best setup for the Unicorns. Soon™.

Given that Gilius reportedly has had personality conflicts with the Unicorns (as well as others) in the past, it's an interesting decision, to say the least. The fact that the organization has also brought on H0R0 and Airwaks, two other junglers with professional experience, as substitutes goes to show that they intend to leave their options open. Up against weaker competition in Gambit Gaming and SK Gaming this week, some wins here would help the Unicorns as they look to make it to playoffs, and possibly ride their exceptional first half to the Season 5 World Championship.

Edit: In an interesting twist, Gamers2 has signed Kikis to be their starting jungler, replacing former starter...you guessed it: Gilius.
