Just under a year ago, Global Agenda went subscription free, lifting the cost to play the game for players. But Hi-Rez Studios is taking things a step further with their announcement today that Global Agenda will adopt a free-to-play model with the launch of its "Global Agenda: Free Agent" update scheduled for deployment later this month.

The update is expected to release around mid-April and allow free play for all character classes through level 50 and introduce the new Dome Defense Raid high-level content and the new CTF-style Mercenary PvP mode. Players can also pay a one-time purchase fee of $19.99 to upgrade to Elite Agent status, which comes with accelerated leveling, gear, currency and premium features such as login priority, auction house and in-game mail. If you've previously purchased the game, your status will already be set to Elite Agent.

"With this change, we allow players to experience all of the game's current content and levels for free. We've done this in a way that ensures that free players do not have to spend real money to compete on a level playing field with those who do, while still rewarding those loyal players and fans that have purchased the game or otherwise supported the game."
