Following the need for mid laner Andrew "Slooshi" Pham to temporarily leave Team 8 due to family issues, the team picked up Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer to fill in. In that time, Goldenglue performed quite well for the team, and built up quite a rapport with his new teammates. This has influenced the organization to decide to name Goldenglue the starting mid laner for the 2016 season, with Slooshi moving to a substitute position. Reportedly, Pham himself has agreed that this move will be best for the team.

With that said, former top laner Steven "CaliTrlolz" Kim had a slightly different story to tell regarding Slooshi no longer playing for the team in his recent retirement AMA on Reddit:

"[Slooshi's] mother was sick, so he took a small break. He realized how much fun it is to just party and drink. He went back to his party habitat and Goldenglue is our main now that Slooshi doesn't seem interested in coming back. He still comes around to the house every two weeks or so to hang out with us :D"

Of course, players do seem to enjoy messing with each other, particularly on social media, so it's hard to tell for sure if this story is completely true. Either way, there is no debating that Goldenglue seemed to fit in quite well with Team 8, and will finally have a chance to prove himself as a starter after helping the team re-qualify for the LCS by defeating Imagine in the promotion tournament.
