The hacker collective known as LulzSec has finally called it quits after 50 days of Internet hacks, DDoS attacks and Lulz.
According to a recent statement via Twitter, the hacker collective known as Lulz Security (LulzSec) is finally calling it quits after a 50 day rampage around the Internet that impacted countless companies, government agencies, game developers and whats certain to be a high number of compromised personal details.
According to the groups final release, The Lulz Boat is sailing off into the sunset one last time with its crew of six. But despite their departure, the group hopes that what they have started will live on through others:
Again, behind the mask, behind the insanity and mayhem, we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz. We hope, wish, even beg, that the movement manifests itself into a revolution that can continue on without us.
Many of LulzSecs followers on Twitter are unhappy to see the group go, but companies that have been impacted by the group's activities like Nintendo, Sony, Bethesda, CCP, Riot Games just to name a few, are undoubtedly happy to see The Lulz Boat sailing off into the distance for the last time.
