Yesterday, it was announced that Copenhagen Wolves' jungler Airwaks was leaving the team due to a "horrible" atmosphere. Today, long-time captain and top laner Joey "YoungBuck" Steltenpool has announced that he, too, is looking to leave the organization.
"Last night I expressed to the team and staff my desire to leave the team.
The atmosphere in the team has been awful this split and I've come to accept that it won't change anytime soon.
I will try my hardest in this weeks LCS games but hope that CW will find a replacement for me shortly after.
I want to thank all the fans for their support throughout the years, through thick and thin.
League of Legends is still a game I love playing, and love teaching others in so I will stick around and consider my options after this is all said and done"
Given how long YoungBuck has been with the team and all the highs and lows he's experienced, it's clear that something is very wrong if he feels this strongly about leaving. That seemed to be confirmed, as leaks of a conversation between head coach Karl "Dentist" Krey and team CEO Jakob Lund Kristensen show some questionable business ethics, and acknowledgement of player tampering. The logs are fairly long, but at least for the time being, they can be found here, with names (mostly) blacked out.
It's unfair to jump to conclusions, and the organization has not released a statement regarding the information that seems to portray these figures in a fairly negative light. Either way, it's now going to be significantly more difficult for the Copenhagen Wolves to build up the huge fan following they were envisioning.
