PC Gaming Show Invades E3 2015

The circus known as E3 2015 will apparently be getting a new sideshow attraction in the form of the PC Gaming Show. Read on for details on this curiosity and why MMO gamers should consider tuning in.

If you think that E3 couldn’t possibly grow any larger or pack more into the span of 3 days next month, guess again. On Tuesday, June 16 the folks from PC Gamer will be hosting the PC Gaming Show in celebration of the mightiest of all gaming platforms. Given that PC gaming sites are a dying breed these days and the fierce emphasis on cross-platform launches I’m not sure that I’d necessarily consider this a “golden age” for PC gaming, but the official website for the event clearly believes otherwise.

“PC gaming is in a golden age, with more powerful and affordable hardware than ever before, thousands of games available through Steam, Origin and other platforms, and millions of viewers regularly watching esports online. Now, for the first time, the PC platform will have its own event during E3, where the community will be able to celebrate this era with some of the biggest names in PC gaming and see the innovations that lie ahead.”

The PC Gaming Show is being held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, June 16 at the Belasco Theater in Downtown LA. As one might expect in the current era of “live stream or it didn’t happen”, the whole thing will be streamed in partnership with Twitch for the folks at home.

One of the main reasons I consider the event somewhat newsworthy is that it should offer some appeal to core MMO gamers based on the current list of participants. The full list – which is still growing, mind  you – can be found on the official website for the event, but the following studios and publishers are worthy of mention for those of you mainly interested in the Mighty Whirlwind of Might also known as the MMO industry.

ArenaNet Blizzard Entertainment CCP Games Cloud Imperium Games Nexon Square Enix

Details surrounding any of the particulars for what is being presented by the above have not been disclosed at this point. It’s entirely possible that the event will devolve into a long marketing pitch for Windows 10 and the games and hardware manufacturers that intend to support it, or even an anecdotal walk down memory lane for that matter. It’s hard to say one way or another at this point.

Still, it could be worth tuning in for those of you who will be following the grand circus that is E3 2015 from home. For more info, be sure to catch a virtual wave and surf on over to the official teaser site.
