Ragnarok Online 2 was initially scheduled to hit open beta on December 27th, 2012, but due to the nature of development, the open beta has been taken down and pushed back slightly and will now get back underway just after the New Year holiday on January 3rd, 2013.

The decision comes after an overwhelming response from players overloaded the servers and website, creating a hefty bit of congestion and frustration for some. During the downtime, the devs will be working to resolve the congestion issues to avoid any further problems when they reopen. Unfortunately, as part of the change, character data from the initial start of open beta will also be wiped.

Chairman of Asiasoft Online and PlayPark Sherman Tan also posted an apology to the Ragnarok Online 2 Facebook page and called on players to log in and help stress the servers during sporadic testing periods that will be taking place until the open beta resumes on January 3rd.
