Soon people will actually appreciate it when you go get arm-deep in bear parts for them.

There was a recent post in the Lord of the Rings Online forums by Vastin which indicates that changes are coming to the quests. Now they'll actually be giving out faction with the proper parties.

Currently in development is a content revamp to reward reputation from many existing quests that are performed for the various factions in game.

These will (as a rule of thumb) cumulatively reward enough rep to complete the first - and sometimes the second - tier of each given reputation.

For players who have already completed these quests we are implementing a one-time retroactive reputation reward for those quests you have previously completed.

I believe you'll be seeing these new quest reputation rewards coming live with Book 12. Well, that's the plan anyway.
