2012 has arrived and Star Trek Online (STO) will be making its way to the free-to-play market on January 17th. Executive Producer Stephen D’Angelo recently posted a new developer diary to give fans a look at what’s in store for the first part of this year.

This month will bring more bug fixes and features to the Holodeck server along with the official free-to-play launch for STO. Things pick up a bit more in February with the game’s second anniversary event that will also hail the arrival of the new Federation Odyssey class starship and a brand new Klingon flagship. Shortly after that, fans will be treated to the new Dominion Feature Episode content along with the first Duty Officer system expansion in March.

Lastly, D’Angelo briefly touched on the Season 6 update, which is tentatively for release in June. All in all it looks to be a busy few months for Cryptic and STO.
