Where is the WAAAGH button on this thing?
Blue Orb has announced that their software now supports Warhammer Online so gamers can use a standard Xbox 360 controller to smash heads and rule with an iron fist (all with a plastic doodad).
Pre-configured for maximum carnage and minimum startup pain, the Xbox controller provides comfort and a console feel. From the press release:
Our aim is to immerse players into the brutal frays of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning by providing them with a hands-on alternative to the traditional keyboard and mouse control scheme, said Walt Wilson, COO at Blue Orb. Realm vs. Realm combat is one of the many highlights of WAR, and SwitchBlade brings comfort and a rich new game play experience to the hours-long city sieges players will experience in-game.
Keyboard and mouse enthusiasts are probably bristling at this announcement, but if Switchblade can provide a sleek and seamless way to RvR like a players hands are on fire, then it could be a home run. Switchblade has been available for other games such as World of Warcraft, but with the number of buttons I use for action bars and my comfort level with the keyboard and mouse, I haven't tried it. Have you? What has been your experience with such devices? I have some thoughts that I'll share on our forums so stop in and let me know yours.
