Dragon Age: Origins captivated many RPG fans with its release last year and the game has seen its share of post-launch digital download content and an expansion to extend the story. But downloadable content can only take a game so far and it's about time for the next evolution of this saga. Today, Electronic Arts confirmed that the sequel to Dragon Age is currently in development at BioWare’s Edmonton-based studio. Dragon Age 2 will follow a character named Hawke, a survivor of the blight and hero that will take center stage in the new story.

Dragon Age 2 traces the rise to power of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight and a hero who will transform the face of the Dragon Age universe forever.

Dragon Age 2 is scheduled to release in May 2011 on the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 game console. A debut trailer is scheduled to launch on August 17th, 2010.
