There comes a point in the product development process where you have to listen to the feedback of your market. Alas, it seems the developers of Final Fantasy XIV missed that part and set out on a path to carve their own niche once more, just like their previous offering Final Fantasy XI did. After a spectacular failure of an open beta event that actually saw a [i]decline[/i] of the server population over time rather than an explosion, three months later the developers have asked the people the simple question:

Where did we go wrong?
