It’s a busy time for betas this week. Not to be left out, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (FFXIV) will be heading into its third and final beta event this week. The schedule initially sent out via email by Square Enix was inadvertently sent out to NA and EU players in Japanese, so here is the correct schedule for the two regions via the FFXIV Facebook page.

July 10, 2013 (Wed), 2:00 a.m. to July 15 (Mon), 2:00 a.m. (PDT)

July 10, 2013 (Wed), 9:00 a.m. to July 15 (Mon), 9:00 a.m. (GMT)

If you’ve kept up with the FFXIV news, you are probably aware that it won't be joining its predecessor, Final Fantasy XI, on the Xbox. FFXIV Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida recently spoke with RPG Site at the Japan Expo in Paris last week to explain why. Here's a hint - it has to do with keeping the community together and Microsoft’s restrictive policies on the platform.

“The main reason from our side is that I don't want the community to be divided; to be split into two or more,” Yoshida told RPG Site. “For example, one player might be on the PC version, another might be on the PS4 version, and I'm playing the Xbox version - but we're not able to join the same game servers. That is just... I just don't like the idea. I disagree with it.”

Yoshida also discussed the crossover with the Final Fantasy XIII universe with the arrival of Lightning in Eorzea, PvP, advancement, and more. Give the full interview a read and check out the latest Tour of Eorzea video below for more.
