Gizmos, Gadgets, and Toys - OH MY!
If there is one thing we as geeks share an almost universal love for, it is gadgets and gadgetry. We plug in, log on, and access more technology than NASA; and honestly probably more than we need.
So why do we do it? What drives us until we are all but consumed with the need to spec-out?
The answers are numerous.
The newer and cooler the gadget, the larger our status. And by status I mean status, and Im not in any way going to make an iPenis joke, or quip about something as juvenile as geeks being naturals at playing with their hand helds.
No, I mean gadgets are a status symbol among us as really huge manes are a symbol of strength among lions. People tend to forget that we are still at the core, animals. And like all other animals, we have ways of visually showing which of us are the strongest, the leaders of the pack, and which of us make the most potent mates.
