Welcome back to another week of News from the Wider Gaming World. Hapily, no companies went under this week. We always like it when that happens.

Lionhead Studios, makers of Fable and Fable II had us waiting on the edge of our seats when they told us something "special" was coming. What that "special" turned out to be is Downloadable Content for Fable II. The download pack, titled Knothole Island, will cost 800 MS Points and there will be a free download that allows players with the DLC to co-op with players who don't have it.

Sony held an annual meeting last Friday for it's Computer Entertainment staff. While final plans haven't been laid out in detail, it's rumored that the decision has been made to make the PS3 more price competitive in 2009. It's widely known that there are more Xbox 360s out there, and dropping the price does seem like it would help Sony in that regard. If they need any more motivation to do so, the fact that PS2 games can still make the covers of major gaming magazines shows that their fan base hasn't converted fully, in more than a year of sales.

Sadly in China yesterday, a large fight ignited at a video game center in Chongqing left five people dead. While the direct cause of the fight wasn't known, it started with an argument between the manager of the center and several youths. Here's to hoping it's an isolated incident.

Last but not least, the Guild, a sensation of an internet show dedicated to making fun of World of Warcraft has signed an exclusive deal to appear on the Xbox 360's Independent Video channel. The second season will appear there first, and only on The Guild's website after four weeks. Kind of odd that Microsoft chose to buy a show about WoW though, don't you think?

That's all that's interesting out there which doesn't require an internet connection. But be sure - we'll keep you updated. See you next week!
