The
first PAX East may have been somewhat light on massive game booths and playable demos ,
but two things it certainly wasn't lacking were piles of tech and even
bigger piles of gamers. All three days of the sold out event were just
as packed as this shaky-cam style opening day rush image. src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-1.jpg" width="130" height="79" border="0">

NVIDIA's new GTX480 was
unveiled at the show complete with a surprisingly low price point and new marketing slogan obviously
geared towards oboard dwellers: CRANK THAT S#!T UP! (no joke) Unfortunately, the board didn't approve our offshoot slogan for Ten Ton Hammer's guides portal: KICK THAT GAME IN THE B@!!$

Of
course we quickly discovered that the real reason 60,000 people showed
up in Boston this weekend was to meet the legendary Mattlow, shown here
with two of his adoring fans who even whipped up some fancy new cosplay
for their epic Mattlow encounter. Speaking
of cosplay, no gaming convention is complete without at least one group
dressed as their favorite Team Fortress 2 characters. We didn't spot a single Slave Leia though - either it was way too cold or this is what Clone Wars has done to us. Personally
though, I prefered this guy who was not only pure win, but also one of
the smartest people at the show. Boston was anything but warm this
weekend, and that might be why this guy is all thumbs! Of
course no PAX would be complete without random appearances by Gabe and
Tycho. Here you can see them signing autographs near the media room. src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-8.jpg" width="130" height="115" border="0"> Numerous
professional rock star gamers were also at the show, including
StarSlay3r shown here among many others. Unfortunately this also had
the negative
effect of causing a massive line to wrap around the block to get into
Lir on Saturday night, as the rock stars were having a party upstairs
while the folks from Fallen Earth held their meet and greet on the main
floor. src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-9.jpg" width="130" height="96" border="0"> Speaking
of Fallen Earth, be sure to check out href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxeast2010/fallenearth_iphone_app">all
the details and our exclusive video
of their new iPhone app in action, which was my personal pick for
highlight of the show. It's getting a chance to see cool new things
like this that make the trip well worth it for me. src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-11.jpg" width="130" height="143" border="0"> The most info-packed panel we went to, by far, was the City of Heroes panel with Paragon Studios. CoH players have plenty of reason to rejoice - not only is the game getting a massive graphics revamp next month, but the Going Rogue expansion will follow in July and then, one of the highlights of the show, Issue 19: Incarnates will introduce a number of engame options to this venerable superhero MMOG. First details right here! src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-12.jpg" width="130" height="73" border="0"> Getting some hands-on time with
upcoming games is another reason
why events like PAX East are generally awesome. href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/taxonomy/term/998">APB had one of
the busiest booths at the show throughout the weekend. A special preview video of APB's customization options, with another video on APB gameplay and hands-on impressions to follow soon.. src="http://images.tentonhammer.com/misc/Loading/PAXe10_pics/thumbnail-13.jpg" width="130" height="112" border="0"> Last but certainly not least, area
developers Turbine had a strong presence at the show, revealing some
excellent new things coming up for DDO fans. Be sure to check out the href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/pax2010/ddo1">first of an
exclusive three part video series featuring the new Guild Airship
and Half-Orc race reveals.

PAX EAST 2010

Fallen Earth Unveils the Future of Mobile MMOG Interaction

http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxeast2010/fallenearth_iphone_app

At PAX East 2010 the developers of
Fallen Earth showed us the killer app that will raise the bar for how
players can interact with an MMOG while on the go. Everything from
crafting, chatting, auctions and in-game emails is possible, many
features even overlapping in interesting and unique ways never before
seen in an MMOG smartphone application. Ten Ton Hammer is pleased to
bring you the details on how it all fits together, along with an
exclusive video with Associate Project Manager Dave Haydysch where the
powerful new app is shown in action.

City of Heroes "Incarnate" Endgame Levels & New Going Rogue Details Revealed
http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxe2010/CoH/incarnates

A host of top designers from Paragon Studios including Matt Miller and Melissa Bianco were on-hand at PAX East 2010 to share all new details on July's City of Heroes: Going Rogue expansion, plus an exciting first-ever reveal of "Issue 19: Incarnates" - a post-GR update that adds long-awaited endgame levels and options to the game.

DDO - Guild Airships and Half Orcs Revealed

http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/pax2010/ddo1

Turbine
is approaching the halfway point of their ten updates for Dungeons and
Dragons Online
this year, and Update 14 looks to be one of DDO's
biggest updates yet. This first video reveals the focal point of
Turbine's guild-centric plans for DDO this summer - guild airships!
Exec. Producer Fernando Paiz will also offer a first look at the new
race coming to DDO: the half-orcs.

APB Customization Preview Video from PAX East 2010

http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxe2010/APB/customization

In APB, Realtime Worlds has created a whole new metagame with some incredible
customization options. Players can create tattooes, vehicle decals, customized
clothing, and even "death music" using a built-in step sequencer, then sell
these customized concepts to other players. Chris Collins
of Realtime Worlds walks us through many of these customization options with a
live look inside the game in this video: our first live look at APB
customization from PAX 2010.

Hands on with Immerz KOR-fx at Pax East

http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxeast2010/immerz

Immerz
is getting ready to release a new force feedback device called KOR-fx.
Mattlow tries out the device at Pax East and tells us if it lives up to
the hype.

Future of PC Gaming Panel

http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/paxeast2010/future_of_pc_gaming

This
week the dynamic duo from Penny Arcade took the east coast by storm, bringing
the hugely popular PAX convention to Boston for the first time where it was
embraced with open arms by a rabid legion of gamers. However, the packed exhibit
hall of the sold out show isn’t the only trick up the organizer’s sleeves, as
the 3 day show also offers a number of topical panels ranging from the mundane
to the massively popular. Among them, Ten Ton Hammer had the chance to drop in
on an interesting discussion titled The Future of PC Gaming (Yes, there is
one!)
.

Gravity Bear Q&A with Phil Shenk

http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/82814

Facebook
is a platform that's becoming more popular with developers and players
alike. For newer games such as Gravity Bear's Battle Punks, this is
good news as the social network allows a new distribution method still
being explored by developers. Ten Ton Hammer recently caught up to
Gravity Bear co-founder and gaming industry veteran Phil Shenk to talk
about the game and how the developer plans to utilize Facebook to
provide a 3D social gaming experience.
