ANGMAR REPUTATION
alt="Council of the North Reputation Vendor"
src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/100628">
Why
is this the
classier of the two horses sold by the Council of the North reputation
vendor? Because it's standing by a dwarf, that's why.
The Council of the North is a small but influential faction.
They are headquartered at Gath Forthnir, the cramped and remote cave
stuck way up the mountainside in Himbar. If you want to visit there
often (and you will when you get deep into the epic books), you need
standing with the Council of the North.
Reputation is earned by recovering trophies from the servants
of Carn Dum and other enemies of the Free People. You also earn
reputation for each kill in the Angmar instances, and many quests in
Angmar (particularly those from the rangers in Gath Forthnir and
elsewhere) have reputation rewards. Many mobs in Carn Dum
and Urugarth drop rep items, as do the undead denizens of Imlad
Balchorth.
Metalsmiths who wish to aid in the defense against the forces
of
Angmar can earn reputation by crafting armour pieces. The recipes are
available from Hroar at Gath Forthnir, and the crafted items can be
exchanged with him.
REWARDS
As strange as it may seem nowadays, the stuff from the Council
of
the North rep vendor used to be great endgame gear. Though it hasn't
aged all that well, and there's really not that much of it compared to
some other factions, it's still decent stuff for the 47 - 50 level
range. The Council of the North has 2 different horses, but the only
real difference, aside from the ~700-silver price difference, is
cosmetic. Both are +62% run speed and 250 morale.
THE ELDGANG
The Eldgang is a small, separate
reputation faction based solely in the rift. They have no bearing on
the outside world, as few people trade with or even really care about
fire giants living in a super-deadly hole in the ground. Reputation
with the Eldgang is earned by questing and killing things in the Rift.
There are few rewards associated with this faction aside from some
potions and the ability to barter for coins to exchange at Iorelen's
camp for other potions. You don't need Eldgang rep for the World Renown
deed. Really, the only reason to earn rep with this faction is for
bragging rights.
