The Auric Basin Meta Event is not only epic in scale but it also provides access to a Hero Point, plenty of loot and experience. It’s a lengthy process to kickstart the process, but the build-up is also worth attending due to the rewards.

Requirements

I would highly recommend that you unlock, at a minimum, the entire central area of Auric Basin. The Meta Event is held in the center of the map (Tarir) and uses each of the four entrances to the city. You’ll need to be able to quickly move around the map using the Waypoints outside each entrace, so having the area discovered is very important.

Secondly and certainly the successful events I’ve participated in all had 4 Commanders - one for each side of the city. Having Mushroom Jumping, Basic Gliding, Updraft and Exalted Mastery really helps as each side of the city requires you and those participating to do something different. Having these Masteries really helps.

Finally, most people consider that there are three phases to the Meta event: Preparation, Champions and Assault with the build up to the main event taking around an hour.

Preparation

The beginning of the Meta event requires players to separate out across each of the four outposts. Once there an event for each will eventually trigger with the ultimate objective being to restore the mirrors surrounding them. In total you need to power up three Pylons around all four camps, bringing the total number to 12. Each event at each output leads to one Pylon, with it concluding in a boss fight. All you need to do here is follow the path to the Pylon and kill the end boss, just be sure to bring plenty of crowd control as their break bars can be pretty heavy. Once you’ve killed the boss at your outpost and powered your first Pylon, you need to return back to your outposts Waypoint and repeat the process twice more. After that, you’re free to move to any other Outpost and help on their events (should they need it).

Champion Phase

Once you have activated the Pylons across all areas of the map (north, south, east and west) the Champion phase will begin. It’s relatively short and requires players to be positioned at each outpost. During this event you and others are required to obtain Golden armors (the same type the NPC’s wear) and those who can’t, take the normal variants. You can use these armors as part of the event in order to battle

Assault Phase

When you’ve completed the Pylons, there’s a rest period (depending on how quickly you completed!) that allows you and those on the map to coordinate your forces to each of the sections. You should also be aware that during this phase, you’ll need to first break into Tarir and then once inside, complete the event.

Part 1

An incredibly easy section of the event, you simply break down the vine that’s covering the entrance door. Some Mordrem do spawn but a group of 6 can quite easily kill them. For ease and speed, 10-15 on each side is best.

Part 2

The primary assault on Tarir requires coordination across each section of the area. Each area also has a unique way of being played that requires different tactics and some are much harder than others. Players consider the order of difficulty the following: East, North, West and South

North

A very straightforward event. Players simply need to equip the Acid Throwers and use them on the vine that’s blocking the door. As is typical, Armors should focus on knocking away Trigger Blossoms and healing allies.

East

Without doubt the easiest of all the sides, East requires players to collect bombs, jump onto an updraft and drop them on the vine. It’s near impossible to fail and it allows you to quickly make the vine vulnerable in order to burst it down.

Here Armors will also be able to directly damage the Octovine rather than just knocking back Blossoms.

South

The Exalted will spawn an explosive device at the start of the path that leads to the Octovine. To move the explosive players have to use knockback skills (or pulls) in order for it to reach the Octovine and detonate. Only players are able to interact with it, meaning your Armors have to concentrate on knocking back Blossoms, healing and dealing damage to enemies. Professions that are great for knocking back include the Herald (elite), Engineer or Scrapper with Rifle or Flamethrower as well as Warrior with hammer or rifle.

West

A little trickier, players here need to step into the mushroom transform area. Once a mushroom, they need to run towards the Octovine and hit it with skill 1. Doing so will remove slime from the Octovine, eventually leaving it vulnerable to damage.

As a mushroom you can jump to avoid damage but if you receive any, you’ll be transformed back into your character.

Timing Is Everything

For the event to succeed, you need to bring all four doors down within two minutes of each other. If you fail to do this, the Octovines that are still alive will regain 50% of their health. Based on that, you need to ensure that each door is at 5% health and once they are, everyone goes full damage. As is standard, players will inform the map when their Octovine is at 5% and then wait for the others to catch up. Once you kill all the Octovines and gain access to Tarir, you’ll be able to go underground for the Hero Point and Exalted chests that you can loot.

Rewards

It's well worth doing the Meta event because the rewards are pretty good. A high amount of experience combined with the ability to loot loads of chests means you'll earn a good amount of gold as well.
