Deep in the heart of Eriador lies the land that everyone must
pass through at some point: Bree-land. Race of Man starts out here, and
most other characters will head here after running out of things to do
in their homelands, staying here until around level 20 or later.
Bree-land lies more or less at the centre of Eriador, and most
locations in Eriador can be reached from the stable-masters in
Bree-town. It is mostly settled by Race of Man and Hobbits - the
architecture of Bree-town, Archet and Combe is largely that of men,
while Staddle and Buckland is clearly the work of Hobbits. The
Barrow-downs, once a great capital of the Dunedain and now a great
cemetery plagued with Barrow-wights, and the Old Forest, a gloomy, dark
remnant of primordial forest that once covered much of the land, have
their own sub-maps, as does Bree-town.
