Quest Online has been in the news more than a few times over the last few months due to the apparent bad blood between some of its current and former staff, including former Alganon creator, David Allan and now Quest Online President, Derek Smart. Over the last few months, we have seen Alganon go through a change in leadership and direction, leading to Allen's removal from the company. In March, Derek Smart and former Quest Online employees bumped heads on the Gamasutra forums, and last month we learned through a statement on David Allen's website that he had filed a civil action suit against Derek Smart (Maricopa County Superior Court under case number CV2010-010391) for defamatory conduct and other things not mentioned.

This week, Quest Online has spoken out in defense of Smart, praising his direction with Alganon and improvements to the game and company since he took over to lead the company.

"Since Smart has taken over leadership, the company has reduced overhead and streamlined operations and Alganon has also gained significant exposure in the gaming marketplace."

The released statement also briefly touched on the suit filed by Allen, as Smart calls the action "false and without merit." This saga is anything but over, so stay tuned and we'll keep you updated on how this plays out.
