Dont expect to see Blizzards Project Titan anytime soon. Sources close to the project told Venturebeat that 70 of the 100 developers have been reassigned and that the core team is starting over with the MMOGs development. A Blizzard spokesperson confirmed some of the news with Venturebeat but did not offer specifics on how extensive the iteration to Titan will be, the number of reassigned team members, or how much time the changes will add to the MMOGs development cycle.
Weve always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception, Blizzard spokesman Shon Damron told Venturebeat. Weve come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. Were using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes.
Blizzard has never been one to get in a hurry with its development. The sequels to the Diablo and StarCraft series came nearly a decade after the last. Project Titan has had no official release date or game information revealed as of yet, but some rumored details have leaked out in recent months. Whether they're true or not only Blizzard knows, but the one thing that is certain for now is that we wont be seeing Project Titans release anytime soon, and any sort of a reveal at BlizzCon seems even less likely in light of this news.
