The recent closed beta test for Skyforge gave many gamers their first taste of what makes this upcoming sci-fi / fantasy hybrid MMOG tick. Along with the three core starting classes, folks who picked up the appropriate Founder’s Pack were also able to dive directly into the additional Berserker and Gunner classes.

Details for the second CBT have already been announced, and it’s coming up sooner than you think. From March 24 through April 8. If you haven’t gotten access to the Skyforge beta yet, additional packs of invitations will be sent to players who registered on sf.my.com prior to the March 24 start date for CBT2.

For those of you who already have beta access via the Founder’s Packs options, you will be able to retain your client from the first test and simply patch it up for the second test. Better yet, you’ll be keeping all account progress from the first test.

New content will also become available in CBT2, including:

  • Four new classes: Archer, Necromancer, Slayer, Kinetic
  • New Open World Zone: Naori Island
  • New Superiority PvP Mode: 8v8
  • New 5-Player Dungeon: Daren Facility
  • Two New Squad Adventures: Thetin Rift, Cronnel Platforms
  • New “CUBE” style instance: Nedder Test Area

There will also be a special PvP activity during the second week of CBT2, so players are being recommended to prepare for some PvP action heading into the second test.

As a brief aside, I got the chance to try out each of the four classes listed above, and have to say that both the Necromancer and Kinetic are pretty incredible implementations and distinctive takes on traditional caster classes. The necromancer offers some of the flavor you’d come to expect from the class married with a very fluid combat style, while the kinetic is truly unlike any other MMO caster I’ve played to date.

If you haven’t picked up one of the 3 Skyfore Founder’s Packs yet, you can still do so on the official website. Each package grants access to the beta events, so are worth a look if you’re interested in getting in on the action for CBT2.
