Can't get enough Star Trek? Free-to-play gaming portal Gameforge, based
in Germany, announced today that it has signed a worldwide licensing
agreement to develop and publish casual free-to-play
browser-based games based on the Star Trek franchise. What Gameforge
has in store for the IP remains unknown, but the company's press
release states that "acquiring the Star Trek license marks the start of
Gameforge’s global AAA expansion."

Will a free-to-play Star Trek offering from the developers of Metin2
live long and prosper? Will it have the universal appeal that remained
out of reach for subscription-based Star Trek Online? We'll remain on
