About This List
Please refer to the Top Ten Free-to-Play Games Portal to find out how to get a game you make or like on this list.

Two Weeks in Review
In case you missed it, Ten Ton Hammer had some HUGE giveaways last week. In fact, you can still add your name to the list for a Stargate Worlds beta invitation. The point of telling readers about this is to explain why there was no Top Ten last week; I was very busy and had little time to play.

Once the intensity died down, I finally lived up to my word and tried Archlord. I don't always agree with Managing Editor Cody "Micajah" Bye's take on a game, but I cannot add anything to his review of Archlord. While the translation has gotten better in the seventeen months since Cody reviewed the game, the graphics have aged a little. And the grind has remained the same. It's a wash for me. Archlord doesn't make the Top Ten. It didn't do enough to grab my interest. One play session and uninstall. Any readers out there disagree? Drop me a line and let me know what I'm missing.

The List
The major shakeups for NCsoft this week result in me dropping Dungeon Runners to number 10. The big announcement on September 10 didn't do much to instill my faith that Dungeon Runners will have support for the distant future. I welcome comments from anyone at NCsoft who reads this Top Ten. Please prove that Dungeon Runners is not going the way of Mythos.

The fall for Dungeon Runners means a step up for the rest of the list. I was tempted to drop Magic101 down a few notches for what I consider a poor revenue model for this list. It's still a free-to-play game, but it's really a free-to-play trial. The official website even tells gamers that "Wizard101 offers a Free Trial that never ends!" The breakdown of available features can be seen here. I really like the game, though. I think everyone should try it. I can't say what the revenue model will mean for the game's position on the Top Ten. I haven't decided yet.

I expect more changes next week, as I am trying out Perfect World International and Red Stone. Plus, it's finally time for Runes of Magic.

Here are my Top Ten Free-to-Play Games for this week.

1

Atlantica Online - (www.playatlantica.com)
NDOORS
Atlantica is still my favorite game right now. The Stamina system has really thinned out the population, though.

2

2

Wizard101 - (www.wizard101.com)
KingsIsle Entertainment, Inc.
Wizard101 is a fun game that may not be able to hold it's position on the list. You can try it for free but need to pay to get the full game.

3

3

Mabinogi - (http://mabinogi.nexon.net)
NEXON
Mabinogi seems like one of the more demanding games in the Top Ten. Your character continues to age even if you aren't logging in.

4

5

Rohan: Blood Feud - (www.playrohan.com)
YNK Interactive
Rohan has a really strong story in the beginning that gets weaker with levels. Doesn't this happen even with pay-to-play games?

5

6

Dream of Mirror Online - (http://domo.aeriagames.com)
Aeria Games & Entertainment

Dream of Mirror Online gives players a lot of versatility with the dual class system.

6

7

Runes of Magic - (www.runesofmagic.com)
Frogster

Runes of Magic is in Closed Beta now. We have video and screens for readers to devour.

7

8

Magic World Online - (http://mwo.enjoymmo.com)
Goldcool Games

Magic World Online is the only non-3D game in the Top Ten. The story gets the job done better than many other great free games.

8

9

Cabal Online - (www.cabalonline.com)
ESTsoft

Cabal Online is worth a try for its dark mood and grinding soundtrack. The grind gets tough early, though.

9

10

Wakfu - (www.wakfu.com)
Ankama

Wakfu is somewhat of a mystery at this point. Ankama is pretty quiet about the game, but it's rumored to go live by the end of the year.

10

4

Dungeon Runners - (http://www.dungeonrunners.com) NCSoft
Dungeon Runners feels like an endangered species these days. I hope I am wrong.
