My wife and I have been consumed with Runes of Magic this week. I gave readers my first impressions here, but I think I did not do the game justice. In particular, the dual class system is more complicated than I made it sound. First of all, your choices for your two classes are permanent. You can't rotate through any class at will. The attributes of the second class add 10% of their value to those of your first class, so you might be tempted to just go for synergies. At the same time, you can only access a fraction of the skills of the second class, so the skills you get might play an important factor in your choice. Finally, you must set your secondary class to be the primary if you want to level it. You only gain XP in your primary class.

If I make it sound too complex, then I am still explaining it wrong. It's actually an exquisite design that gives you the option to use strategies, role playing, or min/max as the force behind your choices. For more information, I recommend you read the dual class overview by jatto99, which will do a better job of explaining the intricacies of the system. While you're at it, also read the list of skills you can access with your secondary class compiled by DeMoN. Finally, take of peek at the list of profession master skills (which I have not even touched in any of my commentary) started by ptbarrett.

Most importantly, get off your butt and try Runes of Magic. It's now my #2 free-to-play game.
