Gameforge Layoffs Claim 100 Jobs, Future of Star Trek: Infinite Space Uncertain
Gameforge is realigning its internal structure and the move will leave 100 people out of work and the future of the free-to-play Star Trek: Infinite Space in question.
According to a recent release from Gameforge, the studio is realigning following its acquisition of a majority stake in Frogster earlier this year. As part of the restructuring, 100 jobs have been eliminated and development on Mythos and Hellbreed has been canceled. And unless a co-publisher can be found for Star Trek: Infinite Space that title could also fade into oblivion.
"Through a more efficient organisational structure, we can optimise our use of resources and great potential for further growth increase," said CEO Alexander Roesner in a statement. "This will strengthen our long term position in the dynamic market for online games."
Yesterday it was also announced that Frogster CEO and founder Christoph Gerlinger would be resigning after almost seven years at the top of the company.
As always, our best wishes go out to those affected by the layoffs. ItÂs certainly not a nice gift to receive this close to the holidays.
