Kickstarter has been a saving grace for many games that may never have been given a chance to develop. But how will a game like Vendetta Online that’s been live for more than a decade fare as it looks to crowdfunding for to develop a huge new expansion and create a new iOS version? Indy developer Guild Software hopes that it will be good as their new Kickstarter aims to do just that. The multiplatform space game is already available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android devices with players across each sharing the same universe, but if all goes as planned and the $100,000 Kickstarter goal is reached, the team plans to add iOS support and hefty new expansion loaded with new game features and improvements.

The expansion plans, if successfully funded, look to add improved graphics, improve sound, better rendering tech, add new conquerable territory, improve player-owned capships and more. Guild Software Founder & Lead Designer John Bergman took some time to speak with MMORPG.com about what the team hopes to accomplish in greater detail if the Kickstarter is successful.

"The biggest short-term enhancement to Dynamic Warfare will be expanding it to impact larger areas of territory within the game. Basically, as a construct, it serves to give a means for contention and conquest of territory; a model that can be applied both to users and guilds, as well as the large-scale AI factions I mentioned earlier."

Will Kickstarter bring the space MMO "Vendetta Online" to the iPad?

MILWAUKEE, WI, January 18th 2013. Award-winning game developer Guild Software is excited to launch a Kickstarter crowdfunding effort to support further game enhancements along with an iPad version of their long-running space MMORPG "Vendetta Online". The game made headlines back in March of 2011, when it launched on the Android platform and became the first 3D MMO to make the jump from PC to mobile, quickly climbing to the #1 paid app on the Play Store and taking center stage in a series of Verizon TV commercials. Now the team at Guild Software is ready to make that leap again, and with the help of supporters will deliver an even more polished and premium experience for iPad owners.

"We'll be thrilled to bring our intense brand of multi-player space gaming to iPad family of devices," said John Bergman, CEO of Guild Software. "Our game offers a seamless transition between desktop and mobile, so players can easily switch back and forth between their iPad and their Mac without limitation."

All players and platforms share the same universe within Vendetta Online, so iOS users will rub elbows with those on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and WinRT. Beyond iPad support, the Kickstarter could also help fund the next major expansion of the title's gameplay, including enhanced player-owned capital ships and territorial conquest, and is scheduled for completion near the end of 2013.
