With some WoW Classic players stuck in queues of over 10,000 players - despite Blizzard implementing recent improvements to the queues - Production Designer, Barry Barnes, has confirmed that it has encouraged Blizzard and Activision to create a new title: WoW Classic Queue Simulator.

While development is only in the early stages, Barry and his team are confident they can not only recreate the magic of a WoW Classic queues on a permanent basis, but also release the title quickly.

"We think we've found a new genre," said Barry. "Players were so excited to be sat in long queues, that to not give players the option of only ever being in them seems cruel."

Blizzard thinks some players will have more fun in a queue with friends, than actually playing the game.

Barry went on to detail how WoW Classic Queue Simulator will randomly allocate server capacity every time you login, so you'll never know what your queue will be. Not only that, but if you do reach the front of the queue, Blizzard have a brilliant solution.

"Oh, this is the best part," added Barry, "Once players are at the front of the queue, as if they're about to join the server, they'll be disconnected and booted from the game. We know from our internal feedback that players love when that happens."

And what about the long-term monetization for the game? Will players need a subscription?

"No, not at all!" This is the best part; we're implementing microtransactions so that players can reduce their queue time."

Although there's no release date for this new title, Barry and his team are keen to push it out as quickly as possible.

"We've actually diverted all our BFA team onto this new project. We're pretty sure it'll be far more popular anyway."
