CCP has plans to keep EVE Online and its upcoming FPS tie-in, DUST 514, around for decades to come. Speaking with GamesIndustry International, Executive Producer Jonathan Lander explained CCP’s plans to keep the game going beyond the current generation of consoles, which has already outlasted previous generations. Lander stated that CCP already has a five-year roadmap for the PlayStation 3 exclusive DUST 514 with ideas pushing out as far as 20 years, well beyond the console's life cycle.

"We're working really, really hard with Sony right now on PlayStation 3 and just shipping the game on PlayStation 3, that's where 100 per cent of our focus is. But our intention is this game will continue to run and operate for many, many years."

Lander also praised Sony’s involvement with the project, talked a bit about developing free-to-play titles for the console and how the crazy vision of some devoted Icelanders led to the creation of EVE Online.

DUST 514 is expected to release later this year.
