One of the most original quest lines in Lord of the Rings Online are the Epic Book quest. These quest integrate the player into the Lord of the Rings Story in a way that is believable and does not conflict with Tolkiens original works. This is one of the more immersive aspects of Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Book One Chapter one begins after you complete your races Epilogue quest. The first step will send you to the Inn of the Prancing Pony in the city of Bree.
Foreword an Unwanted Guest
Quest Level: 10
When you enter the Inn of the Prancing Pony you will meet its respective barkeep Barlimen Butterbur. Barlimen has some issues with a recent guest named Strider. Head to the back of the inn and Striders room is down a hallway. Enter the room and talk to Strider to complete chapter one.
Chapter One: Unraveling the Thread
Quest Level: 12
Strider will request you gain the aid of allies and return to him. Upon doing so he will transport you and your party to an instance of Ost Baranor. There you will aid in the battle against Amdir and the Blackwolds. Strider and Langlin a fellow ranger will break off from the party taking a different path. You and your allies will be left to follow the ranger Torthann. The battles flow fairly quick and are not to difficult as you encounter several Blackwolds along your path. A ways in you will reach a circular alter and engage a summoned Wight. After dispatching the enemy Torthann will stop for a moment and allow you to rest. When you are ready, speak with him and he will open the gate leading up a set of stairs. When you reach the top you will see the Nazgul finishing their conversion of Amdir. Aragorn and Langlin will show up and chase them off leaving you to deal with Eogan a servant of Angmar. Once he is defeated, Amdir will rise in red garments appearing as a wraith. Defeat him and speak with Torthann to complete the instance. Return to Strider at the Prancing Pony and speak with him to complete the chapter.

Chapter Two: To a Constables Aid
Quest Level: 12
Strider will ask you to speak with a local constable in the city of Combe. Leave Strider and head out of Brees eastern gate. Keep northeast along the road until you reach Combe. Constable Underhill awaits you near the center of town not far from the inn. Speak with him to finish chapter two.
Chapter Three: Blackwolds Broken
Quest Level: 12
Speak with Constable Underhill again and you and your allies will be transported to an instanced version of the Blackwolds hideout. Escort Constable Underhill through as he inspects things. You will engage several Neeker Beekers, but the fights arent hard. Continue to escort the constable until he discover a few Dwarves roughing up a Blackwold survivor. You will overhear a discussion between the individuals before being discovered. At that point prepare for battle as the dwarves will attack you. Underhill will leave you to deal with the enemies while he follows the escaping Dwarves down the tunnel. After you have dispatched the enemies speak with the Blackwold survivor and then continue down the hall to Constable Underhill. He will have lost the escaping Dwarves in a dead end tunnel. Speak with Constable Underhill to complete the Instance. Speak with Constable Underhill in Combe again to complete Chapter three and collect your reward.
Chapter Four: Dark Designs
Quest Level: 12
Constable Underhill will inform you to return to Bree and speak with Strider. Leave Combe and head southwest to Bree. Speak with Strider at the inn of the Prancing Pony to complete chapter four.
Chapter Five: The Other Riders
Quest Level: 12
Strider wants you to find out information about the other four Nazgul riders. He will instruct you to seek out a ranger named Lenglinn who resides on a rise just northeast of Buckland. Leave Bree through the west gate and head past Adsos camp. Just before you get to Buckland there is a rise on the hillside just north of the path. This path will lead to Lenglinns camp. Speak with Lenglinn to complete chapter five.
Chapter Six: The Black Riders Wake
Quest Level: 13
Lenglinn will tell you the enemies spies are nearby in the form of Crebain. He will ask you to slay a number of them. The enemies he refers to are called Craban. They can be located just at the bottom of the rise he resides on. Head back down the hill and you will find them waiting to be slaughtered. When you have completed the task, return and speak to Lenglin to complete chapter six.
Chapter Seven: Horn-call of Buckland
Quest Level: 13
Lenglinn will send you to investigate the Baggins home in Crickhollow located in Buckland. Head back down the hill and to the southwest to the gate of Buckland. Through the gate to the southeast you will find a home surrounded by hedges. This is the Baggins home. When you enter the gate there is a hobbit named Fredegar Bolger. Speak with Fredegar and Crebain will attack. Kill them as they come, but in the end a few will retreat into the forest. Speak with Fredegar again and return to Lenglinn. Speak with Lenglinn to collect your reward and complete chapter Seven. Lenglinn will send you back to Strider in Bree.
Chapter Eight: Master of the Wood
Quest Level: 15
Strider wants you to follow the crebain into the old forest and locate a man known as Tom Bombadil. To reach the old forest head out the west gate of Bree. The old forest can be a confusing place even to veterans of the area. There are two entrances to the Old Forest. The first is south of Adsos camp and the second just east of Buckland. The less confusing route to Bombadils house is the entrance east of Buckland. Follow the path to a clearing near a hill. Continue to follow the path around the hill until you reach The house of Tom Bombadil. If you are entering from Adsos camp follow the path in and around the forest to an opening. To the south there is a path that will descend a bit and turn east up a hill. This will lead you strait to Toms home. Speak with him to complete Chapter Eight.

Chapter Nine: Lillies for the River Daughter
Quest Level: 15
Before he will help you, Tom wants you to gather some river lilies from an area near Old Man Willow. Head to the path south of Toms house and follow the road west. Old Man Willow is at the end of the path. The lilies are around, but be careful not to engage in fighting near Old Man Willow. He has an attack that can drain the energy from you. Any combat should be done away from him. The lilies are all around the water area near Old Man Willows. Collect them and return to Tom. Speak with Tom to complete chapter nine.
Chapter Ten: Into the Barrow Downs
Quest Level: 16
(It is advised for this part you get the help of a decent fellowship. A well organized group 17-20 should be able to handle the things to come.)
Tom will tell you the crebain flew off towards the Barrow Downs. Follow the path north of Tom Bombadils house. This will lead you to an entrance on the western side of the Barrow Downs. The easiest way to find the crebain is follow the westen edge of the Barrow Downs south until you reach a wall. There you will see Andrast a servant of Angmar (Elite) and the crebain spies. Speak with Andraste and you will be attacked by him and the crebain. After you have killed them return to Tom Bombadil through the path from the old forest. Speak with Tom to complete the chapter and collect your reward.
Chapter Eleven: Osthrongroth
Quest Level: 18
(For this dungeon a full fellowship levels 17-20 are best suited.)
Talk to Tom and your fellowship will be transported to the instance of Osthrongroth. This is a rather large instance loaded with elite creatures. Fight slow and smart. There are many ambushes that lay in wait. Being to hasty will end in disaster. Fight your way to the depths of this dungeon and there you will find the Wight Lord Sambrog. He is a level 18 elite and a tough fight. One tactic used to defeat him is place the tank to the front and the rest of the group behind. Sambrog has stun abilities than can interfere with casters. After you have Sambrog almost defeated Tom Bombadil will enter and chase him off. Follow Tom out the exit to complete the instance. Speak with Tom Bombadil to collect your reward and complete chapter eleven. You will once more be prompted to return to Strider.

Chapter Twelve: The Black Riders Design
Quest Level: 18
Return to the Inn of the Prancing Pony to speak with Strider. You will learn upon trying to enter Striders room that he has left and you should talk to Barliman Butterbur once more. Barliman will inform you that Gandalf is seeking some help. You can find him in the room upstairs in the Prancing Pony. Talk to Gandalf to complete Book One.
