Lord of the Rings Online Guide
to Evendim

By Darkgolem

Evendim Overall

Evendim is a massive area including Lake Evendim and the seat of
government (now in ruins) of the old northern kingdom of rangers.
The area is appropriate for low to mid 30’s to level 40, and has
several areas which have quests appropriate for these levels.
There are href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=677">large
amounts of tier 3 and some tier 4 resources.

To the north east the road leads to Forochel, to the east to Fornost
and the North Downs, and south to the Shire.  The land is marked
for steep, rugged land, and very sharp slopes leading down to the
massive Lake Evendim.

Evendim has five basic areas, in terms of adventuring.  The first
is Bullroarer's Sward, made up of Dwaling and Oatbarton.  These
are basically level 30 settlements of the Shire, though Dwaling is not
longer inhabited (in general) by Hobbits.  The second is Parth
Aduial and Barandalf.  These have quests out of Tinnundir.
The third area is Tyrn Fornech, mainly made of of quests out of Ost
Forod.  The fourth area is Emyn Wal, with is an area for those
around level 37, and most of the quests there involve the
Eavespires.  Finally, you have Annuminas, a very high level area,
on the south shore of Evendim.

Sward

href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=471">Oatbarton
(and Dwaling) are the two northernmost settlements of the
Shire.  These settlements are in fact part of Evendim in that they
are on the map of Evendim, but for the purposes of deeds and quests,
are considered part of the Shire.  For example, you receive gift
mathoms for completing many of the quests in Oatbarton.

Oatbarton has some crafting, including farmland here.  The quest
levels in Oatbarton and Dwaling are the low thirties.  Dwaling is
the location of a quest granting the “Server of Process” title.

There is a small goblin settlement near Oatbarton along the Brandywine
river.  Beware the boggarts there.  These small goblins
travel in packs, and are quite dangerous as they will mob you.

Barandalf is a massive stretch of beach and grassy slopes with some
ruins.  This area has salamanders (fire breathing lizards),
norbogs and other creatures.  The ruins of Barad Tharsir (on the
far side of the Brandywine river) are inhabited by tomb robbers looting
artifacts.  Most quests in this area are acquired in southern
Tinnundir.  Ogden Oakes is a named mob here who drops the “Old
Trove” quest.

Parth Aduial

This region is haunted in the west by wild animals and tomb robbers,
and in the east by the haunted ruins of Ost Heryn.  The road east
here leads to the field of Fornost, north to Ost Forod, and west to
Tinnundir.  This area has few quests, aside from a couple from
Tinnundir.  Just south of Ost Forod, in the northern border of
Parth Aduial, the ruins of Tham Andlath are inhabited by goblins,
including boggarts.  This area is appropriate for levels 33 or so.

Ost Forod

Ost Forod is a wild settlement inhabited by various humans who conduct
trade with Forochel.  With the road to Forochel blocked by bandits
and tomb robbers, the settlers here are turning to stealing artifacts
from the tombs of the rangers of the north.  Several target="blank"
href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=680">quests,
especially in Tyrn Fornech to the north, come from this area.

Tyrn Fornech

Tyrn Fornech refers to a swath of hillside leading from the eastern
corner of Evendim to the eastern shore of Lake Evendim to the east,
north of Parth Aduial and Ost Forod.  In the east Tum Fuin is
inhabited another group of goblins, these more deadly than even those
of Tham Andlath.  In the northernmost western portion of Tyrn
Fornech are the Even-Rills, defining the border between Tyrn Fornech
and Emyn Wal.  This area is haunted by bear and wargs, along with
some of the more hardened tomb robbers.  It is appropriate for
levels 34-37.

Tyrn Fornech features an outcropping of rock in it’s center, and the
lands around it to the east lead sharply down to the road to
Fornech.  The western portion of Tyrn Fornech is hard to navigate
because of the steepness of the hillside hear, leading almost
vertically down to Lake Evendim.

Rantost

An island in northern Lake Evendim, this area is haunted by tomb
robbers.  This is an excellent place to gather sashes for favor
with the Wardens of Evendim on Tinnundir.

Tinnundir

The headquarters of the rangers known as the Wardens of Tinnundir, this
area has a large number of href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=490">quests
available for here, plus trainers, merchants and others.  The very
far northern portion of Tinnundir has a few tomb robbers.

Tyl Ruinen

Tyl Ruinen is a large island located due west of Tinnundir.
Filled with salamander and norbogs, this area is deadly for those below
about level 35.  There are few quests here, but it is an excellent
place to get ones salamander slaying deed.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 174px;" align="left">Emyn
Wal

This region encompasses the entirety of the western shore of Lake
Evendim.  To the south is Annuminas, and the north bends east,
eventually crossing the Even-rills to Tyrn Fornech.  Located about
two thirds along the shore (heading north) are the href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=549">Eavespires,
an area with a bowyer, some quests and a waypoint.  A few fun
quests are found in Emyn Wal, though not a huge amount.  Emyn Wal
is appropriate to levels 37 or higher.

Emyn Wal is occupied by bears, giant fire-flies and the wild men known
as the Guaradan.  Additionally, in the heights of Emyn Wal, a
group of stone giants live, and a few quests lead here.  The
terrain here is steep and difficult, leading sharply upright from the
lake to peaks to the west.

The southern reaches of Emyn Wal have the twisted grove (occupied by
wood trolls), and these level 39 signature creatures are fairly
deadly.  The southern shore of Evendim is located right next to
Annuminas (to the west).  This area is occupied by bears, elks and
fire flies.

Annuminas

The ruined city of the north kingdom is in contest between the rangers
of the north and forces of Angmar.  This area is the home of level
50 servants of Angmar.  There is, however, a outpost of the
Wardens of Annuminas, also level 50.  There are several quests
here, along with merchants and similar.  Avoid this are if you are
lower level than at least level 45 or so.
