September must be Latin for More Experience.
The Lord of the Rings Online is offering the latest round of ways to get your character set up for their upcoming expansion, The Mines of Moria. In addition to allowing previous customers back into the game for the weekend, Turbine is upping the XP nicely. Per the email sent out today:
The Lord of the Rings Online is always growing and evolving, and you should be a part of it! With the upcoming release of the Mines of Moria expansion for LOTRO, we want to make sure you are ready to take advantage of everything that Moria offers.
Hop back into one of your old characters and play LOTRO for free from October 2-6, 2008 while earning +25% bonus experience! Prepare your characters for the wonder and dread of Moria by taking advantage of these bonus XP days!
Summer may be passing into memory, but the fun doesn't end when the weather turns cool. There are many special events coming up for LOTRO players.
With fall comes the annual Fall Festival! Brush up on those Hobbit dance moves and get ready for all the exciting fall festival events including new quests and rewards only available during the festival.
This looks like a great way to get to go back and try the game again and level characters up so you can enjoy all the new expansion has to offer. Of course, this is also an "Us Too" type of move as many other games are jockeying for position in the MMO market as it gets more crowded.
My mailbox is starting to overflow with announcements of ways to level up my characters in all of my favorite games. Long ago (at least a few months anyway), World of Warcraft started the "recruit a friend" for 300% XP gains and it met with mixed response. More recently, Everquest II held a bonus XP weekend that met with some technical difficulties. Now it's Turbine's turn.
