Valley of the Four Winds Zone Walkthrough - Part 2

In this second part of our Mists of Pandaria Valley of the Four Winds quest guide we will walk through the quest chains to help Chen Stormstout make his own brew. The chain involves many different pieces that have you travel around the village of Halfhill helping Chen, Li Li, and the surrounding locals

Quest Hub - Mudmug's Place

Well this is where it all starts when you enter Pandaria, you are off to visit a little quest hub called Pang's Stead which is a farm area in the zone called Valley of the Four Winds.

Chen returns to Mudmugs place with broken dreams from his failed visit to his family's brewery down the road. Talk to him and he will tell the story about his visit.

The story takes place in a very interesting way as instead of the normal dialog only Blizzard has decided to put you in Chen's place and you get to walk him through the brewery as he re-tells his tale. It is a differnt way to get the story across and works very well.

After Chen tells you his story he decides that rather that wallow in sorry over his meeting with his uncle, he will prove that he has what it takes to be a brewer himself. He asks you to meet up with him in the town of Halfhill to help him setup his own brewery.

Quest
Hub - Halfhill

Once you make your way over to the town of Halfhill you will find Chen Stormstout in the town square. There he starts you on the quest chain that will have you help him brew his own beer to prove his worth to his uncle at the Stormstout brewery. Once you find him, make sure you also grab the flight point here at Halfhill which can be found just south-west of Chen. While this is a main hub, most of the quests will happen around Halfhill and will therefore be broken out to sub-sections.

Chen has tasks for everyone, he is getting barrels, Li Li the grain, Mudmug the water, and your primary task is to find some local hops worth brewing with.

Chen sends you to visit three local farms to get hops to use, the farms are Fran, Gai Lan, and Den Mudclaw. Visit and obtain hops from each before returning to Chen.

Chen asks you to track down Li Li and let her know what type of grain he needs as he never told her any specific kind. You will find her at the Imperial Granary to the south of Halfhill.

This quest will be done after the two above quests.

The Gilded Fan is a watery area just north of Halfhill and where you will find Mudmug to help with the water.

The Gilded Fan

Mudmug is grateful for your help and asks that you help him gather 30 samples of water. Guide him to the water areas that are sparkling and protect him as he gathers water from various sources along the waterline. Once he has his 30 samples he will be piled high with barrels of water and this completes the quest.

Once you have helped Mudmug gather all of the water from the Gilded fan he asks for an escort back to Halfhill.

Do this quest either before proceeding up the road to deal with the farmers for the hops, or to save time complete it on your way back from the farmers. If you chose to do the farmers first and he becomes separated from you, he can be found along the road where you first met him when you are on your way back to town later.

The Heartland is an area in the zone that contains all three of the farmers that you will be looking to talk to for hops.

The first farmer you meet for your hops quest, is gardener Fran, who says nothing is free. If you want some hops for Chen you will have to work for them.

Fran wants you to water the various plants in her garden and hands you a watering can. The plants are quite far appart and will glitter as she asks for each specific one to be watered. Luckily you can stay mounted and move from one area to another as required. The plants go all the way around the hill in the center of her farm, so you may not be able to see which needs watering until you move around the hill a little.

It is now time to visit the second farm for hops. Mun-Mung is the head farmhand at Den Mudclaw's farm, and is willing to help out with the hops if you help him out with his virmen problem.

Find and kill enough virmen to supply mung-mung with 100 of thier teeth. You will find them all over the fields around the farm.

While at Den Mudclaws farm, he also has a favour to ask. His daughter is missiong and he susspects that the virmen have stolen her away, he would greatly appreciate if you found her for him.

She can be found in the virmen den just south of his farm.

After finding Mina Mudclaw in the warren, she asks to be helped back home. Simply lead her out of the virmen warren and back to the farm.

The last farmer that you are looking for is called Gia Lan and is found south of the Mudclaw farm.

When you find him, he is defending himself on the top or a rock from a weed invasion. Fight off 100 weeds to help him win his war and he will send some hops to Chen for you.

This quest will pop up once you have talked to and helpd all three farmers. It is a reminder to go back and talk to Chen now that you have finished your task. Before you do though we will continue south to help Li Li and the granary.

Your last area to visit before you will have everything for Chen to start brewing is the Imperial Granary to the south of Halfhill. Here you will find Li Li needing help with her quest and the granary operators needing help with a kink in operations.

style="text-align: center;">Li Li doesn't know how to sample the grain, and having not drank beer before is not sure what type her uncle Chen needs. Sample the various grains at the granary to help her out.

The grainlord made a mistake and bought some cheap grain and is now paying the price for it. The grain was infested with sprites and they are wrecking the granary. Help him out and slay 8 of them. You can do this as you sample the grain for Li Li.

One of the employees at the granary wants you defeat one of the sprites that got into his miracle gro formula and has now become a huge angry sprite.

You will find Cornan the Barley Barbarian at the top of the granary.

Having helped out grainlord Kai and sampled the grain you have not found one that you think fits Chen's requirements. Kai mentions that there is one he thinks will work that can be found in a cave to the south across the river.

He gives you directions on how to find the cave barley to the south and asks for some further help as well, see the next quest.

Imperial Granary style="text-align: center;">It seems that some of the sprites and eagles that live to the south of the granary have run off with some socks of grain. Kai would like to to collect it for him and return it to him, since you will be traveling that way to the cave for the grain for Chen any way.

Now that you have the cave barley and Li Li agrees that it seems right, it is time to take it back to Chen for his approval.

Return the Chen Stormstout at Halfhill.

Here you return to Halfhill, having finished off all of Chen's tasks. Will his brew turn out?

Chen agrees with all the ingredients and sets to work making his own beer, The Emperor. He asks for some help and it seems like it will be one of those quests where you must run around getting ingredients, but instead he laughts after saying in and says, no he is the brew master and will handle it himself.
