Trion Worlds has implemented their new "Coin Lock" security feature for Rift with today's update. The "Coin Lock" feature will lock down an account's ability to sell, trade, mail and deconstruct items if it's logged in from a significantly different location. A password will be sent to the account's email that will need to be entered to unlock the feature. You can still play while Coin Locked, but you'll be unable to use the various selling and trading features in the game. This should help secure items for compromised accounts.

The update also adds an ignore feature for reported mail spam and even reduces the aggro range of lower level NPCs. A welcome addition is that characters under "Exposed" effect will no longer have an additional chance to be dismounted.

There is one other thing I feel compelled to comment on. I've read a few posts on the Rift forums where people are complaining that this new feature will do little for them if they have gotten keyloggers on their machines. In this case, I would like to point out that it's your responsibility to clean that up. Get a decent anti-virus and firewall program. Trion can't do a thing to clean up your PC, so make sure that you do. After that, take a common-sense approach to securing your email and account passwords with a unique assortment of letters, numbers and characters.
