If you are anything like me (and
millions of other players), addons have become important part of your
World of Warcraft game play. No matter if you have just a few or more
than you can count, addons make life just a little bit easier for all
of us. With the addition of the Monk in the Mists of Pandaria
expansion a whole new realm of potential addons lies before us. While
Monk addons are not abundant as of yet, they soon will be.

I decided to explore this new addon
niche and take a look around the web at the Monk addons currently
available for World of Warcraft. Below you will find my top five
selections that I feel are a step above the rest and as such deserve
to be shared with you, the Ten Ton Hammer community. Enjoy!

Top 5 Monk Specific Class Addons

Monk Timers

Monk Timers is a cooldown and buff
monitoring addon that is (if you had not guessed) specifically
designed for the Monk class. Sure you could probably get the same
results by combining several other addons, but why do all that work?
Monk Timers gives you exactly what you need, in a sleek, easy to use,
and best of all; lightweight package. Check out Monk Timers in action
in the picture below:

Mistweaver is exclusively for those
Monks out there that focus their powers into healing. The Mistweaver
addon does what addons like Grid, Clique, and Healbot do, except that
this addon comes out of the package geared for your Monk. That means
that this addon works with almost no setup required. While the
overall design of the addon may seem a bit clunky at first, once you
get used to it, you will find that this addon is really a life saver
when it comes to Monk healing in World of Warcraft.

WWHelper is designed for use by the
Windwalker Monk. This addon is used to monitor auras and cooldowns
for this spec. Not enough for you? The authors of WWHelper have also
programed this mod to give you helpful advice on which ability should
be used in order to avoid wasting both Chi and power. You can't ask
for much more than that in an addon. Once again, while this could be
achieved by using a combination of other addons, I personally prefer
something that is designed for the class right out of the box. Like
the look of WWHelper but play a Brewmaster Monk? Be sure to check out
BMHelper an addon designed by the same author.

Do you love your Monk but hate the
standard Blizzard Chi bar? Apparently someone else felt the same way
and did something about it. ChiEnergyBar allows you to customize the
way both your energy bar and Chi points look. Both bars can be moved
and customized totally separate from each other with a variety of
addons and textures sure to please just about everybody. Even if you
aren't into drastically changing the look of these bars you can also
choose to simply re-size them, hide your energy bar when you are out
of combat, or even hide your empty energy points. Check out the image
below to see just a sample of what ChiEnergyBar can do.

Brewmaster Tao

We have something for the Windwalkers
and Mistweavers so it is only fair that the last addon to round out
my top 5 is one aimed specifically at the Brewmaster Monk. Brewmaster
Tao is a lightweight addon that doesn't seem to do much at all, but
the small things it does do are pretty darn important. This World of
Warcraft addon tracks both total Stagger damage waiting to be taken
and the internal cooldown for Power Strikes. Brewmaster Monks must be
always aware of these things to be successful in their game play.
With more tacking features and options planned in the future,
Brewmaster Tao is a must have for any series Brewmaster Monk.
