Lord of the Rings Online Weekly
Troll Report 2/15/08
By Darkgolem
This weeks highlighted forums stretch
a fairly range in the Lord of the
Rings Online (LOTRO) forums, including:

Favourite Movie line - Talking about ones favorite line
from various movies (mainly Lord of the Rings, understandably). I
was surprised at the enthusiastic response, but then, a lot of the
LOTRO players are obviously fans of the movies and books.
Merry to Pippen in Fangorn
"The fires of Isengard will spread, the woods of Buckland and
Tuckburough will burn. There won't be a Shire, Pippen.
Gandalf and Pippen in Gondor
The grey rained curtain rolls back and then you see it...
See it? See....

Clothing Poorly Implemented - Basically, the title says the nature
of this post. The original post seems a bit miffed, but then
cooler heads follow.
The system makes absolutely no sense. Outfits can be worn,
then you can
destroy the outfit from your inventory and look you're still wearing
it! Outfits should have taken up slots on your paper-doll just the same
as armor does, and not in your inventory. I know allowing you to remove
the item from your inventory and retain the outfit was an attempt to
lessen the inventory burden.. but comon, just moving it to new slots on
our avatar would have fixed the problem..

Great, Some Not So Great - This seems a good example of a
positive post talking about issues. It offers some solutions, and
in my opinion, fair critique.
I have been looking forward to many of the changes in Book
12 like so
many others.
I must say, most of them are impressive.
The outfits are fun, and my Guardian and Hunter are enjoying some new
skills and improvements for sure.
Also, best of all, the Keg in my house is NOW USABLE! That's right
folks, kegs are usable and get you drunk haha... oh the joy!
There are however, some not so great aspects in my opinion.
As mentioned in another thread, the new scratching, armcrossing, idle
animations are very disruptive and annoying. They even mess up the
/smoke animation so that you are scratching and fidgiting with pipe in
hand. These are completely useless and uncalled for, so please remove
them ASAP.
Furthermore, the one feature I was really...
href="http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=119459">Guardian Vs
Balrog (Need Help) - I am so not yet near the point where I
can handle a Balrog with my Guardian, but I still was really interested
in hearing this.
We (my Kinship and I) have finally been fighting the Balrog
encounter
in the Rift on a regular basis, but have yet been able to bring him
down. Being one of our main tanks, my job is to MT the Balrog. My
question is... For those who have successfully tanked the Balrog are
there any strats for gaining the Balrog's aggro and keeping it? I've
watched videos of this encounter and have noticed that the MT rarely
loses his aggro during the fight, however when I've MT'd he seems to
keep his aggro on the Elf Chic NPC and only turning his focus on me
when I use "Challenge" which only keeps his aggro for a short period of
time before he turns to the Elf Chic again.
Here's how we've been doing it currently. The raid fellowship will all
go into the Overseer's room to fight him, leaving me outside with the
Elf Chic and the Balrog. I will just shoot him with my bow while
standing on the glowy circle. I run out every so often....
href="http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=119772">Sprint in
Broken - Great - I just don't think that the troll report would BE
the troll report without some sort of complaint, so here ya go!
This one seems like a 50 response thread about a misunderstanding, far
as I can tell.
There are 2 things that have changed: Sprint will now
override any
snares on your character.
The tooltip has changed. I will point out it says "Sets Run Speed to
125%". It does not say "Adds 125% to Run Speed". If you're already
running at 100%, and you're now running at 125% when sprint is
activated, you have had a gain of 25%, the same as the old sprint.
However, because this new sprint overrides any snares, it will set your
run speed to 125%, instead...
And now for some plugs for our own site.
